Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have a convict in my tree that came on the second fleet on a ship known as the floating brothel.

On the other side of the tree I have someone charged with murdering her newborn illegitmate son.

I love reading everyone's posts...

I haven't found any skeletons....yet!

I've managed to trace back on my Dad's Dad's side 12x grandfathers...*doing a happy dance*
I'm back to 1540 ish...

That's the most I can do at the moment, but I noticed that the last G that I found, the surname has changed from Martin to Martyn...
That's normal isn't it?
For his parents I don't get a christian name yet, just the name Martyn...

Having a beer to celebrate...
Will get stuck back into it tomorrow.

Ask gil about her 'Farringtons, Ffaringtons, Faryngtons... ' etc ect.. yes all the same people.

Quite normal tende.

Sometimes you have to go with the flow. I have "Dickey, Dickie, Dicky, Dicks'

I have William Wallace who ended in the Tower of London and was finally hanged, drawn and quartered for causing trouble fighting for a free and independent Scotland...

Just another skeleton eh? :^O

Well done Tende, happy dance away.

Happyroo depending wether your convict was male or female they would have enjoyed the tripB-) Sad about the baby but we dont know what circumstances occured first. Its all still part of the picture.

Primary keep on looking its not a quick process, a few of us here have been going for 25+ years, you'll get there. The more you look and learn the more you will find and see.

Thanks for the encouragement Matega. I am so time poor it is hard finding the time to do it at the moment. I think I will have to make a timetable of an hour a night or 4 hours on a weekend just to keep going and not forget some of the clues I have found.

I will get there.....eventually ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

when I was about 20 I had ordered my ggg/fathers death certificate..and went into the city to collect it..

i had a fair bit of family background stories on him, so he was someone I had thought about a LOT..
I couldnt wait to look at the certificate so went over to one of the chairs in the waiting room & sat down to read ..
and I will never forget how I was utterly shocked as the words 'died from a self-inflicted wound to the throat' jumped out at me

:O

:-(

i was so SO sad

Blackcatt, I don't know what to say. It sure was not a very private place to read that.

I have found I feel very close to my rellies as I have found them and I didn't expect to.

It sure is an emotional journey for all of us.

Just wondering, keep seeing those ads from ancestry.com do you have to pay?

Some city libraries may have a subscription? The one I work in (Tas) does. Bargain I think!
