Anyone else into seeking their ancestors?

I have become adicted to Ancestry.com and am lucky enough that one side of my family can be researched way back into the dim times.

The other side has hit a brick wall and I have to wait until someone else in the world may have more information.

How is everyone else going?

Happy roo, sorry no experience with sa records. They seem to have lots of email address for each are so why not email and see if you can find out or if you have skype call them. I have accessed files from National archives some were allowed and some werent. You never know unless you try. Good luck

Here is a picture of the cemetery I was talking about.

If you look carefully you can see lots of the graves are pointing in different directions.

Some of this is because of famly fueds and some of it was because they wanted to be buried facing their properties.

Well, so much for the old rule about facing west then Flashi.. once upon a time if they faced north they were being punished for not being good Christians... 🙂

I found this Australian Cemeteries Index. If you click on the link 'look at the map' and wait for it to load it will show you where the cemeteries are actually located. The main group are in NSW but other states are on the index too but in smaller number. Doesn't seem to be the big ones, mostly in country towns.
