Are heated discussions interpersonal disputes?

In my view there is a vast difference between passionate debate (heated discussion) and interpersonal dispute.

I agree that interpersonal anything should be given the chop but discussions that adhere to the rules of debate and address the issue are NOT interpersonal in their nature

Without debate society would still be in the cave.

Moderators may I make a suggestion? ............Thank you.

Do not be too hasty in your judgement as to what constitutes an "Interpersonal Dispute".

In a lot of  cases interpersonal disputes are veiled so as to appear innocent the do not get the proper treatment that they so richly deserve. I realise that Lithum moderators are only noobies to this site and are not aware of the forum dynamics as yet, let us hope that the learning curve gets accelerated as time passes.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

no a heated discussion is not interpersonal, until someone gets all sooky thinking everyone is against them because people dont agree with their view point and they start pushing the button, typing in caps and you can almost see the steam comming out their ears...then the thread gets locked.

But if the view points are said withput name calling and caps and sookiness then its just a heated discussion not a dispute

I don't think heated discussion is allowed or jesting either?

We're not even allowed to wander off topic anymore. Even if it's a friendly nice natured conversation.

unfortunately that is condescending, which is interpersonal ? why do you have to issue a simple reply as the grand ayatollah anyway, as i see it its a simple nod. '' i agree in part '' does not mean ''i submit unto you oh wise one ''  is that clearer ? Robot Happy

as i have just returned from a holiday, I'm not buying it for a second. my limited experience here seems to have revealed that it is those who complain about the censorship the most that are quite quick to call the mods in. Not meaning any poster in particular and not meant to be taken in any interpersonal way.

That raises another point Boris. I have always advocated that the report button be removed and then no one could use that to say that they were reported.

I feel sure that mass reporting goes on a lot but how about giving the moderators some credit for being aware of the habitual reporters?

I feel sure that there is database ay Moderator Command Center that they refer to or at least should refer to when inundated with reports.

Removing the report button puts a lid on a can of worms so to speak 🙂

well i have said this before, but will repeat it - i use "the button" for racist and hate speech - full stop. It isn't used as much now (the racist and hate language) since the rules were discovered. i have had plenty of "interpersonal" comments made at me, most just make me laugh. One of my favourites disappeared and i was disappointed because Mr Boris would have got a laugh out of it when he got home, i didn't report it or any of them. I don't mind the censorship, just find it a little random.

Unfortunately Spot, some lack the ability discern subtly humour and have no concept of irony in any form 😞
