Are heated discussions interpersonal disputes?

In my view there is a vast difference between passionate debate (heated discussion) and interpersonal dispute.

I agree that interpersonal anything should be given the chop but discussions that adhere to the rules of debate and address the issue are NOT interpersonal in their nature

Without debate society would still be in the cave.

Moderators may I make a suggestion? ............Thank you.

Do not be too hasty in your judgement as to what constitutes an "Interpersonal Dispute".

In a lot of  cases interpersonal disputes are veiled so as to appear innocent the do not get the proper treatment that they so richly deserve. I realise that Lithum moderators are only noobies to this site and are not aware of the forum dynamics as yet, let us hope that the learning curve gets accelerated as time passes.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Amber bear in mind that your little verbal quip pro quo may fall on a lot of deaf ears and linger above the heads of many a poster 🙂

Unfortunately Spot, some lack the ability discern subtly humour and have no concept of irony in any form 😞

Many a well scripted quip has gone above the heads of many unoticed.

Or maybe they've learnt to pretend not to to avoid the consequences  😄

Maybe that's why the UK Round Table has almost disappeared down the pan, and is now only attracting roughly one thread per day.

I think it depends who is posting and who is reporting, sometimes you can go for months and happily argue without a problem till someone takes a dislike to you

I must agree with you there Donna.

That is precisely what I am trying to bring to light with this thread, just because someone takes a dislike to you or your views should be no reason for moderation if the posting guidelines have not been vviolated.

As we are all, no doubt, aware that at times posts that are weeks and months old are moderated.

Removing the report button would put a lid on that pastime as well relieving the tensions and the speculation of who is trolling through past posts as either sport or revenge.

Moderation would be much simpler task if the influence of a report did not exist.

Most of us here are fully aware of the guidelines and do not violate them, if they are violated then correct action should be taken according to the guidelines.
