People like to air their opinions about things that concern or interest them.
People also like to air their opinions about what they don't like..
I like playing Magic the Gathering but I'm not likely to start a thread about it as I would end up talking to myself

It is a bit of a broken record, I agree with Yoda that there is no individual intelligent input by some that post articles and opinions from shock jocks, there is no real debate, they run away every time you ask them a question, then they get personal.
Here is a worthwhile article to read:

I would like to see liveworld set up a special forum for politics, similar to the one they made for the PayPal kafuffle. Funniest thing I ever saw on eBay, was the day all those people were ranting on that board and eBay suddenly deleted it :^O

I don't mind informed political discussions. However, most of the political threads on CS seem more like hate threads directed at certain politicians rather than a healthy discussion on issues and policy direction. Others start off as C & P articles from political writers with no introductory point of discussion. I read the titles and ignore them now.

Yes they are relevant Icy but why so many from the same few posters. Is a new thread necessary every time a thought enters their heads?
They don't post every time a thought enters their heads.
Some of them are paid to spam boards with C&Ps

No, I don't like any thread made from pickering storytimes but I don't care about the threads. There is room for 50. That sounds like variety to me.
No, we don't need groups for everything either.

That is also an option patchy, yes.

But you're quite entitled to do so. Plenty of people, including myself, have opened threads about topics they thought interesting. Only to find themselves off the front page with zero response in no time.
