Yesterday I went to the hairdressers and had my waist length hair cut really short (like boy length short). While I was sitting in the chair explaining what I wanted, the hairdresser (who also had long hair) said to me
"does your husband know you are cutting off all of your hair?"
I said "he knows I am getting a hair cut"
her "won't he freak out?"
me "no, why would he?"
She then said in reply "really? If I cut all my hair off my fiancee would leave me"
I was shocked but I bit my tongue & later wondered if maybe I was the wierd one and people (male and female) really asked permission from their partners before doing something with their own body (especially something as temporary as a haircut)
Do you ask permission from your other half?

would you change the appearance of the house without asking?
Something temporary like moving the furniture, yes. Taking down a wall, no.
Its only hair. I didn't get my legs shortened

No, I wouldn't ask for permission to get a change in hair style radical or not.
I know a few females who say they have their hair long because their OH likes long hair.

Just to add to this ...
our house is something we own together, my head is not joint property

Permission? NO. Tell him what I am going to do? YES.
Sometimes he doesn't like how I have it. To bad, my hair.

I am the opposite...I used to get my hair cut just inspite of what my ex wanted. I actually cut it from knee length to just below my ears on the third day of our honeymoon ! I can't believe that is actually 16 years ago...
Having said that...My husband now would be devastated if I cut my hair as he loves it. Honestly I always regret it when I cut my hair short now...so I won't be doing it again. However colouring is a different story. In the past three years it has been cherry, red, black, chestnut, purple, blond and is now a red / black.

I might let him know. Never ask for permission. I know how he likes it but that doesn't stop me doing what I want to do even tho I know he'll go yuk.

I love it actually. It feels so light.
Think of how much you'll save on shampoo and conditioner, also much quicker to dry and style too
