At The Movies

Long Labour Day Weekend here in NSW, so Hubs and I went to see the movie "Tenet" which had been recommended to us.

What a load of garbage! The background music was often so loud you couldn't hear what the actors were saying. The plot kept switching from the future to the present, totally hard to keep up with.

It was overlong at 3hrs 20 mins.

The violence and destruction was horrifying and the special effects were so over the top as to be ridiculous.

On the other hand, we're going to see another movie tomorrow,  Monday, "Dirt Music"

It's based on the book by Tim Winton, which was a great story. Filmed in WA and the scenic photography is said to be spectacular.

Hope it's not disappointing. I have yet to see a movie of a book I've read live up to expectations.

We'll see.

I wanted to see the Russell Crowe movie, but I don't think it's on anymore.

Icy, always check the official trailers on-line instead of taking someone else's recommendation.

Save yourself a lot of time wasting and money.

Interesting review of Tenet Icy.  I went over to IMDB.com ..... my go to for movie reviews  and there are mixed reviews, as usual, but all agree that the audio was terrible and that mostly none could understand what the movie was about.  So you're not alone by far.  Guess who won't be seeing it!

I'l be interested in your review of Dirt Music, I haven't read his new  book yet but plan to soon.  I'm a top fan of his.

Unfortunately, it hasn't received good reviews, Bright.
We'll still go and see it though.
All critics agree the scenery is it's saving grace.
I loved the book.

I loved the book.

Went to see it yesterday and liked it. It kept to the book as much as possible, considering Tim Winton's stories are so rich in characters and events.

The acting was good and the actors were well cast in their roles.

The scenery was spectacular as predicted.

The ending was a bit improbable, but close to the book.

I listened to the producer being interviewed on the radio, and he discussed the difficulty in logistics getting camera crews and equipment, actors from Perth to some of the remote locations in northern WA.

Well worth going to see IMO.

Based on events from a 1998 lawsuit, PERCY follows small-town farmer Percy Schmeiser, who challenges a major conglomerate when the company’s genetically modified (GMO) canola is discovered in the 70-year-old farmer’s crops. As he speaks out against the company’s business practices, he realizes he is representing thousands of other disenfranchised farmers around the world fighting the same battle. Suddenly, he becomes an unsuspecting folk hero in a desperate war to protect farmers’ rights and the world’s food supply against what they see as corporate greed.
