People (with or without the internet at home) will still get their mail delivered 3 days a week under the proposed changes. I have asked before, but noone has answered.. what difference will that make to an individual? ( businesses can afford to pay if they want mail 5 days a week)
Bills are sent out about 10 days in advance, if it arrives on a Wed instead of the Tues, not going to be an issue.
Personal letters, would still arrive 3 days a week.
Businesses encourage customers to receive communications/bills from their by email (it saves them time, paper, envelopes& stamps). It is a lot quicker to receive a reply to an enquiry by email and there is no chance of it getting lost in the post.
AP could double to cost of a postage stamp for a small letter to $1.40 to lessen the loss from that service. Would people be happy to pay that without complaint to have 5 day a week delivery?

Not for much longer DDB, it will be rain hail or shine 3 days a week.

Erica - I am not young, don't have the latest phone or laptop. Internet costs $10 a week, mobile $5 a week (including 500mb data). Have had the internet for 13 years, it is not new technology.
I don't spend money on stamps (use email, bPay etc), except for birthday cards.
Some posters may be eligible for the following re postage stamps.

My BIL is a postie, he is not allowed to work overtime. If he has mail left at his allotted finish time, he is supposed to return to the depot with it. He rarely does that though, he says that people expect their mail delivered and pay for it, so he delivers it.
I have my phone, internet and mobile bills emailed.
Electricity and rates/water are paper bills, no extra charge.
Our business has majority mailed, only a few are emailed. The paper trail for our business is important and we still use cheques.

They did a story on this on our local TV news tonight. A lady that runs a LPO said we listen to our customers, and they want 5 day a week letter delivery because ............................................they are used to it!

I like having a 5 day a week delivery, if that make me, old fashioned, not "with it", etc etc, then so be it . For those who are happy with a 3 day delivery that's great, but WHY does everyone have to think the same way as you?

It doesn't matter what any of us here or anywhere in Australia, think really, Australia Post is the decision maker, and they will do what they want.
