I am shock and disgusted with the negative reaction. I doubt there would be any reaction if he swore on the bible instead.

I think it's a great thing to have a muslim member of the parliament. I hope he is the reasonable voice of Islam.

Unless people can define sacred or God, that point is a mute point. I have yet to find coherent definition of God. Christians say God is a spirit yet cannot define spirit. 

Yeah but would you actually be allowed to hold  The Origins Of Species while taking the oath being sworn in and if not, then why not?

But as you state no religious book is required - Julia Gillard our former atheist PM took the oath. Of course it means alot to them, was merely ridiculing the fact that such anger is given towards a book rather than what they promise to do.

Oh OK. I dont usually watch 7 but I know that Wimbledon is being shown on Fox Sports and 7 so I switch between them depending on what match I want to see.  Not too impressed with the coverage, I have to say.
