Deficit levy has more support among voters than business and some MPs
The latest Essential poll found 34% of Australians supported the idea of a deficit tax and another 34% opposed it.
The latest Essential poll found 34% of Australians supported the idea of a deficit tax and another 34% opposed it. But voters are clear the tax would represent a breach of faith, with 48% saying it was a broken promise and only 33% agreeing with the government’s argument that it is more important to reduce the deficit than stick to every pre-election promise.

I highly doubt that if this tax comes in that it will effect the majority of posters on here.
So whats the problem?
This is what the left and the socialists want TAX the wealthy, make them pay for the lefts and socialist life style and the welfare and handouts

..."Voters believe the Coalition represents the big end of town rather than working families and are more supportive of the government’s proposal to hit higher earners with a deficit levy than business and alarmed Coalition MPs...."
Firstly, ref. .....'represents the big end of town'.....
..."last comment:
With reference to the logo at the top of of the page, I would like to remind MB’ers of the GROSS Tax Inequalities re State Public Servants, who by law are EXEMPT from Federal Law. I live in Campelltown QLD and the last time I looked at this issue was that a pollie/public servant could pump/dump up ALL of their salary into the YOU OWE ME Superannuation Bollox.
**bleep**, if you have massive cohorts pulling these stunts, and most if not all the suffering public are ignorant of these rentier priveleges (thanks all for the erudite replies to rumples yesterday).
So while persons crow and caw about the Federal bloodsucking a-holes the States sanction bloodsucking a-holes are flying under the radar".....http://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2014/05/coalition-pulls-back-debt-tax/
so, these 'big end of town' -ers will not be 'hit' because they have/can afford clever accountants.
Secondly, ref. "alarmed Coalition MPs...." who are these? are they brave enough to stand up and speak about how alarmed they are?

Wow! just wow!
wow just wow will it effect you?
Do you earn over 150K a year? If you do you are a high income earner and deserve to pay, that is the left and socialist mantra, the rich have to pay and if this tax does come in the rich will PAY
So again will this tax effect (or is it affect) you or your family members?
