When it eventually rains, we’ll probably flood……..last water bill was nearly $600…and we’re paying for desalination plant, rather than going into water restrictions

My hot water bottles are standing ready for whenever they’re needed. Two red, one blueberry-blue.
Time to check my woollens, and slay moths if they’ve been doing their evil business.

I do hope you're feeling a bit better now.
The water bottles may be needed at night soon, but the days are still fairly nice.
Despite a cool start yesterday, it turned out to be a beautiful Autumn day with sunshine.
I went into the city yesterday (by train) with a daughter and my 2 granddaughters to see Beauty and the beast.
We chose our seats strategically. Four next to the aisle, middle but on the ladies toilet side and next to exit row. Last time we wwere there the intermission queue was a mile long, we were in it 20 minutes and my granddaughter was panicking as announcements were being made to get back inside.
She wouldn't go this time unless we were able to get there quickly. She gets very anxious, always needs the loo before things (she's 10). The other granddaughter has worse anxiety at times too but never about that.
The show was pretty good but a long day, gone from 10am till 5pm.
Hope everyone else had a good day.

Bumping.......... and typing with one hand.
I found out that a saucepan laden with 2 kgs carrots is too heavy
for my skinny, witchy, bony arms to lift one-handed. 🤣
I am now sporting a wrist brace and arm sling.
I was given a vegie dicer and decided that my future self would appreciate having
vegies in the freezer at a moments notice - for soups, stews etc.
Most vegies need to be blanched before freezing for a few minutes, but my favourite and most handy diced veg so far has been the 2 kgs of onions which just get frozen raw.
So handy, not having to peel an onion every time I need one. diced.
Kitchen hack, free of charge 😀

Your post is part no-handy and part-handy!
Ouch. I’m sorry about your carrot-related injury. For how long will your arm be out of action? 🤕 💪🏻
I hate chopping onions. Hate it. The best way is to prepare at speed and immediately use my Magimix; it can slice and dice however I want. I then instantly wash my hands with lemon juice and rinse off before tackling the next evil onion.
(I should freeze diced onions as you have mentioned. I don’t know why I haven’t!)
🧅🥺😢😭😵💫🫣

I'm on my third day, Countess.
Maybe a week out of action?
Getting too clever for my own good.
Get onto chopping those onions. You'll be glad you did.

Regarding chopping onions, this hint might help........
Here in Darwin I have always kept onions in the fridge - they rot very quickly otherwise🥺. I have found that taken straight from the fridge, I can happily chop two or three decent size onions before the fumes start to affect me. I have confirmed that it is the refrigeration that makes the difference because when visiting family interstate or NZ and helping out in the kitchen, I succumb to onion fumes😭 as quickly as everyone else😁

I have read before that cold onions don't give off the fumes as much.
I don't usually have too much trouble with them.
When it is just one onion to be rough chopped, I guess I get it done quickly enough that the fumes don't get to me.
If I want finely chopped, I often use my Tupperware quick chef. It is absolutely magic for chopping onions and that sort of thing and a quick rinse and it is clean again. For carrots though, not so great as they are tougher. But onions, a quick turn of the handle and finely chopped in seconds with no effort.
I do have a thermomix which can blitz carrots etc in seconds but usually I just want them chopped so do it by hand. Anything to avoid too much washing up.
Here's a photo (not mine) of a quick chef though. They're great.
I think I have almost every type of chopper and slicer and dicer and chipper on the market. I love my gadgets but I am thinking of getting rid of some.

I should have said-sorry to hear about your wrist! Hope it heals quickly.
I guess we all have our pet hates and things that are just dreary work.
It sounds as if chopping onions is one of yours.
Surprisingly, now I think about it, I don't mind onions. I don't know exactly why but maybe because they are small and easy.
One thing though that I find awfully dreary though is when a recipe calls for grated cheese. Thermomix recipes are fine as they do it for me.
But where it is just a small amount, maybe a cup full, I do it by hand and hate every moment of it.
That's where doing a big block in a food processor and freezing would probably work for me. I've done it a few times but usually fall back on pre grated cheese, though I know it has some sort of non stick powder added so probably not the best.
