I'd never heard of it til I it mentioned on Facebook last night:
At first I thought "banoffee" was some sort of scottish/irish word, you know, like bansee, til I realised it was a combination of banana and toffee.

erm...ok...it's like this...
2 adults - one very rich pie - can only have one or 2 slices of said calorie laden piece of confectionery - can't keep it in the fridge indefinitely - you have to get rid of it before it goes off - take it to work where there's always someone out of 150 or so who'll appreciate a bit of free morning tea...
Viola!

so have the rest of it for breakfast the next morning.
Paint the tart shell with chocolate and it won't go soggy. The caramel, being pure sugar will keeop forever, so if it's still there by about day 4, lick the cream off the top, put the bananas on your OH's breaky cereal, and savour the rest at leisure

I've had something similar to that before Icy, I think they just called it caramel banana pie. I have a sweet tooth, but that was way too sweet for me. sickly sweet IYKWIM
