Bill Showbag Shorten is an embarrassment to Australia.
He wormed his way into the ceremony, at the last minute when the march had started, which he said he was not attending, nobody knew was coming.
He caught the last plane to Darwin to scurry to the ceremonies.
His speech making it about himself not serving his country was cringeworthy to say the least, and everybody there knew it was all about the cowardly attack on a decorated serving officer he refused to sack or even demand an apology from the union hack Conroy, to try to get into the good graces of the very people he let Conroy insult.
When asked by journalists, 3 times, he put the phony grin on then proceeded to praise himself on his love for the countries armed forces, it was embarrassing to watch & insulting to the troops and their families.
What a loser, but, the Labor party will stick with him because the alternative verballer Plibersek is anathema to the NSW Labor right who hate her.

Wouldn't it be nice if, just once, we could have an intelligent, informed political debate that didn't sink into rhetoric, histrionics, irrelevant name-calling and blind ideology.
Come to think of it, I'm not even sure what we are supposed to be debating here anyway.
Did Bill shorten make an embarraasing political error - yes
Did he compound that error by giving very silly answers when quizzed about it - yes.
Was it a mistake of international or even national significence - no.
Is there anything else of any signficence left to say about it - nothing

His appalling judgement and the political missteps are mounting up.
Bit like Gillard, not up to the job and not up to the integrity and core values needed.
