Boat arrivals

Have any unauthorized boats carrying people with the intent to seek asylum in Australia arrived in the past few weeks?

That was a clear example of the government not telling us, how did it stop the boats by not telling us? If it was not leaked can the government be trusted to tell us the truth? To me that is the big issue, they cheered when boats arrived under labor, now the shoe is on the other foot they are not telling us.

I think that you are confusing two issues.

Labor didn't think to implement this strategy, so what obligation was there for anyone to stop talking about it.

If it works, does it matter?

What is the true objefctive here?

As I said before, Mr Abbott may be able to stop discussion of arrivals, but he cannot stop discussions of departures and unaccounted vessels.

So even if he were hiding actual arrivals, then why is there no news of departures?

He may be able to control Australian media, but he cannot control international media.

Has Mr Abbott created a law/reached international agreements that prevents anyone from discussing this matter?

smugglers don't announce departures .

he and gillard both advocated a regional centre for proccessing. abbott n morrison are hoping to do the same, but they need to wait for their apologies to malaysia (for one) to be accepted properly. they could have been a lot further along if they didn't play interference for years.

Where are we hoping to establish the centre>?

Isn't that the popint of Manus Island etc?

Where was the centre that Mr Rudd and Ms Gillard set up/established?

I would think that Malaysia et al have more on their mind than us, I think it would be remiss of them to not be focused on the Burmese Peace Talks at this time.

If they (The peace talks) are successful, then it's a whole new ballgame.

there simply isn't room. why else do you think abbott slunk of to malaysia to apologise shortly after the election ?

I don't understand your answer.

Yes, it is now a hide the boats policy. It's funny how some are asking for proof, that is extremely funny 🙂

mr Abbott may be able to hide the fact that a boat arrived, but he cannot hide the fact that one left.

So, has anyone provided proof that boats have left and are now unaccounted for?

pehaps you'd better ask morrison. i doubt he'll be forthcoming though. we have no idea, 30 boats could have arrived this week and we wouldn;t know. the chap on christmas island tweeting arrivals (thomson i think) seems to have been silenced somehow. or he's on holidays.

or maybe there have been no arrivals......

maybe, but we have no credible source to inform us. we have morrison and the telegraph, so i'm going to wait and see Smiley Happy

OOHH come on provide some proof instead of hollow statements.

Can you also please explain labors failure to us all and why it was so great in your world....

Labor's failed approach that allowed more than 50,000 people to turn up on over 800 boats and in excess of 1,100 people dead.

We the LNP are restoring control over our borders that was surrendered under Labor.

Re: Boat arrivals

The problem with turning back and towing back boats is that there is no due process to determine refugee status. There may well be genuine refugees in the mix.

The supporters of this government don't even really have all the facts concerning boat arrivals, because their beloved government suppressing information.

Do people really support turning and towing back boats without even processing the passengers? There is no humanity in this approach. People should be processed and the genuine refugees should be allowed to settle elsewhere, if not in Australia.
