Have any unauthorized boats carrying people with the intent to seek asylum in Australia arrived in the past few weeks?

I wonder how long they intend to keep the figures from the UN

The UN refugee agency says it is awaiting an explanation from the Australian Government over reports asylum seeker boats have been forcibly returned to Indonesia.
The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is warning such actions may place Australia in breach of its obligations under international law. โUNHCR is seeking details from the Australian parties about these recent reports,โ said spokesman Babar Baloch.
But Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Scott Morrison, has insisted that โborder protection is a matter of national sovereigntyโ. โThe Government is taking the steps necessary to protect our borders consistent with our domestic laws and international obligations,โ he said in a statement. โThe UNHCR has been a long term opponent and critic of the Coalitionโs strong border protection policies both in Government and in Opposition.โ
how long is a month??

โFor the UNHCR itโs a very concerning policy or practice if it involves pushing asylum seeker boats back out to sea without proper consideration of individuals who need international protection,โ said Mr Baloch.
โAny such approach would raise significant issues and potentially could place Australia in breach of its obligations under the Refugee Convention and international law.
โIf people who are in need for international protection seek a countryโs safety, then they must be allowed to go through a process which helps to determine if these people are in need.โ

loooook out Clive's on the case
Mr Palmer supports allowing asylum seekers to fly to Australia and be quickly processed at airports.
Under his plan, it would be up to an asylum seeker to make their case that they are a genuine refugee.
If the applicantโs claims were rejected then they will be flown home, but if they are accepted Mr Palmer believes they
should then be given access to welfare and allowed to work.

I heard S H Young making similar comments to yours, the other day. She continued on about their humane policy etc etc....I went searching for what the policy actually is, the only thing I could understand was increasing the refugee intake, maybe, still not having an understanding of the actual process and how those decisions are made. The rest of their Plan of Action, and I'm not sure if its just me, but I could not understand, at all, how it could ever be practically applied.
I thought Rudd came up with a good plan.

funny, i hate the rudd/now abbott plan . i much prefer the greens approach. when looked at neither make sense, but the green plan is easier to live with. its what we should do, not what the worst among us demand we do.

the greens?
are they still around?
on โ13-01-2014 03:23 PM

The Greens were firmly planted in the ground but as fortune would have it that ground is devoid of the sustenance that feeds them and allow germination ๐

Fair enough. How is the Greens' plan going to work?
"People in power who lack humanity cause suffering."
I had no idea........
