At last it has been admitted what many of us have known for years. illegal boat immigrants are not refugees, they are economic refugees.
Bob Carr admitted this on Lateline with Tony Jones.
He also admitted that the immigration dept dealing with this massive influx has been staffed with people who are not competent & are pro immigrant in all forms.
We are seeing over 100 people a day arriving, Labor has totally lost control of the situation & we are facing an influx of illegal immigrants who are criminally invading us at will.
45.000 people are here in the community & detention with 100 a day arriving non stop.
This failure alone is an indictment on Rudd & further indictment on Gillard & Labor who have lied to us for 6 years & now they expect us to vote them back in.

Actually, migrants are very good for the economy
Of course they are, that is why our migration program will be maintained at 190 000 places for 2013 - 2014.
129 250 of those are places for skilled migrants

Lol, that's interesting.
Rudd is now entertaining the idea of repealing the Carbon Tax and Bob Carr is now admitting a tougher stance on the boat arrivals is required. Looks like they'e trying to take the wind out of Abbott's sails
Both issues are/were Tony Abbott's main election drawcards.

australia does do our bit.
most australians don't have a problem with refugees, just a problem with how they are getting here,
we have the right to secure borders
we have the right to control where the refugees come from
we have the right to control how many refugees come here
Yes, but that is a problem for every other country in the world where refugees are arriving; the right to control our borders is overridden by the rights of people escaping danger. As I said above, Indonesia also has the right not to allow Australian navy to tow boats into their waters.
There is no easy solution, as long as there are people desperate enough to get on these boats.

Rudd is now entertaining the idea of repealing the Carbon Tax
Reports said that Mr Rudd will include a review of the carbon tax in his first cabinet meeting on Monday, possibly moving the end of the fixed carbon price of $1.15 per tonne by 12 months to 2014
Another report said Mr Rudd will dump the carbon tax and go straight to an emissions trading scheme with pricing based on market forces, not dictated by the federal government.

mrgrizz, I gather you are not one of "most Australians" as in "most australians don't have a problem with refugees" when you say things like this .....
what are the refugees doing to advance australia?
oh and boundless plains to share........give them a piece of desert.........but no welfare
Disgraceful comment, but only too typical of comments made by those who choose to remain in ignorance and fear...

the right to control our borders is overridden by the rights of people escaping danger.
I'm not sure what you mean by that ??? Isn't one of the responsibilities of our BPC to intercept irregular maritime arrivals?
EVERY West Australian who lives near the coast has been told to keep watch for asylum seekers, as the agency in charge of border protection admits it wants people power to help stop illegal arrivals.

So there is the Mighty Rudd on TV right now talking about sorting the economic refugees from the real refugees.... stating that it takes time to do just that...
So I guess even to the Messiah there is a difference.
