Bondi racist bus attack: Jewish schools on alert after eight males threaten to cut schoolchildren’s throats, five teenagers arrested

POLICE have arrested five alleged offenders involved in a terrifying racial attack on a school bus in Sydney yesterday.

Jewish children as young as five were subjected to a terrifying racial attack when thugs stormed their school bus and threatened to slit their throats.

Screaming “Kill the Jews” and “Heil Hitler” the louts jumped on the bus packed with about 30 students, from kindergarten to year 12, who were on their way home from school yesterday.

Due to their level of intoxication they could not be formally interviewed by police. Their parents were contacted and Waverley detectives plan to formally interview the group later today.

The males are aged between 15 and 17-years-old, but threeoffenders are yet to be located.

Eastern Beaches Inspector Chris Stiles said officers reviewed CCTV from the school bus which led to the arrest on a Dover Heights street.

Police said at 3.50am today, six young males were found in Dover Heights. They are believed to be those who were on the bus.

The threatened students, from Mount Sinai College, Moriah College and Emanuel School, were hysterical after the attack by eight young men as the school bus travelled through the eastern suburbs towards Bondi Junction.

The attackers, described as Australian and smelling of ­alcohol, boarded on Alison Rd, Randwick at 4pm.

What a load of hateful nonsense. Did you read or see the article in question or see the cartoon and the images it was a reflection of?

If the people you talk about feel threatened, intimidated or harrassed they have every right to lodge a complaint. Why ask here what happened to 18C.  Advise the people affected to make a complaint.

Oh for heavens sake the blame lies entirely with the little hooligans that made the threats.

Oh that's right it is never the fault of the kids, it's mostly the mums/parents/teachers/the fact that their dog died/now the bus driver.

It was the kids fault, how hard is that to accept.

Your post is 100% correct LD, but 18C is only used against the right and people like Andrew Bolt, the right shall not have an opinion or speak.

I'm not sure about Federal Laws, but the first person to be charged under Western Australia's upgraded racial vilification laws was an Aboriginal girl.

The situation cannot be resolved while there are over 300 000 Israelis living in West Bank settlements, and taking more land as we speak.  How can the Palestinians have their own state when their land is dotted with Israeli towns and criscrossed by roads which tey are not allowed to drive on?

Any person that felt "slurred" can taken an action.  Why they did not?  Because stating a fact, or depicting it in cartoon is NOT a slur.  And it is a fact that Israelis have been sitting on the hill and watching as Gaza was being bombed, and cheered. 

To mention that has nothing to do with Jewish people in Australia.  Unless they also cheered as they watched Gaza being flattened, and innocent people being killed, maimed and left homeless, in city without drinkable water and without power.

Why do you twist people's words and accuse people of meaning something other than what they have written?

I notice you still didn't answer the one question I asked. Did you read the offending Mike Carlton articles and the relevant background information and photos yet?  On the one hand you've said you would never read him because he is whatever the name of the day is and on the other you claim to know what he wrote, what he was thinking when he wrote and why he wrote what he wrote.  

Perhaps a job in mind reading would suit.

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware an incident occurred in the community yesterday afternoon in which several students, from other schools were racially vilified on a bus.

As a result of this incident it is understandable that some members of our community are concerned for the safety and wellbeing of their own children. I wish to reassure all parents that Rose Bay Secondary College does not and will not tolerate any incidents of racial vilification within the school and will take the strongest actions, consistent with our school discipline code, if an incident did occur.

Rose Bay Secondary College has worked very hard to develop a culture of tolerance and understanding of the different cultural beliefs of our broad school community and our students demonstrate this on a daily basis. I am enormously proud of our students and the manner in which they welcome new students to our school regardless of their backgrounds.

As a school we are aware that conflicts occurring around the world are impacting upon members of our school community and we are able to provide support to individual students if their schooling is being impacted upon. I'm hearing you super nova, and I find it totally disturbing that they would be forced to live under those circumstances not to mention all the checkpoints they have to endure just to go about their daily business. People have died at those checkpoints trying to get to a hospital while being forced to wait there sometimes all day and into the night.
