Friday night I was looking to buy frozen chips. Friday night is fish n chips night, right?
I usually get either McCains or Birds Eye crinkle cut chips in an attempt to buy Australian.
So all they had in the Fridges was McCains SHOESTRING chips or Birdseye POTATO WEDGES.
All other chips, crinkle cut or straight cut, were Coles brand
So I was forced to buy Coles brand if I wanted crinkle cut. Oh it was cheap cheap at only $2 for the 1kg pack!
So manipulated.

brickbats
a piece of brick used as a missile.
Yeah, very funny!
The gif I posted had nothing to do with brick bats because there were only 1 or 2 that did. Maybe it's a new slang term?
I'd imagine anyone who has kids and legos has stepped on one...which I find funny too, lol.

Goodness. Buy some real potatoes and cook them. Is it that difficult ?
Get real. I finish work at 5 get into home around 7pm depending on traffic. After I've picked up a bit of shopping, like tohave dinner ready by at least 8pm. You think I'm going to stuff around peeling and chipping spuds and deep frying them while I'm crumbing and pan frying fish?

First world problem
. Often I find what I want isn't avail, but the home brands are there instead.
from their site
McCain Foods (Aust) Pty Ltd and McCain Foods (NZ) Limited are both wholly owned subsidiaries of McCain Foods Limited in Canada and are part of the global McCain group of companies.
A lot of McCain frozen produce is from NZ.
I believe McCains source their potatoes for their chips from Australia.

You'd think you'd find time to peel and chip them during that 2 hour drive.

It takes me about 10 seconds to peel a potato, and not much longer to chop it up. Lot less time than going to supermarket and trying to find the right brand. But if I really could not be bothered, I would also get it from fish&chips shop 🙂

Yes, they make their chips in Australia from Aussie spuds. Their frozen veges are now all imported from and via NZ.

OK, I haven't bought the frozen chips (any brand).
Fish n Chips night = go to Fish & Chip shop and buy them cooked & ready to eat.
That's not an option, for various reasons.
The point is, Coles is funnelling customers into buying their cheap home brand product by simply not making the other brands available, which I think sucks.
I was tempted to just dump my trolley with all the other stuff in it and go to IGA instead.

I've noticed McCains has been re-packaging their vegies.
Nice new, more noticeable packaging.
Maybe their chips have run out and their new packets aren't available yet.
