Sitting here at reception, an eerie reddish-brown light outside, the wind's whipping the trees into a frenzy, clouds of smoke roiling around the sky the smell of burning eucalyptus trees...

It is a start reminder we live in a country that is prone to floods and fires and everything inbetween...

yeh, reminder, don't leave cigarette lighters on the dashboard of the car, in the sun.
flamin' things explode and set vehicles on fire
lost one of me best vw campervans, wasn't my lighter, mate put the bleep'n thing there.

heatherbrae fire was reported started as a controlled burn this mornin', got away from 'em, burned up to williamtown raaf base,
over to raymond terrace.

Please, please be safe everyone. Those fires are terrible and so many houses lost. Who knows how many people?
We were having pouring rain and hailstorms here, and as I watched it all, I prayed that the fierce winds would blow the rain to the fire areas. The extremes of weather is unbelievable. Unfortunately we can not controll nature.
