CRAZY ??? Centrelink

my son has been attending work experience training - Centrelink have been paying me $80 fortnight Mobility Allowance to take him to and from 3 times a week - twice a day ie deliver in the morning and pickup in the afternoon.

Last Thursday I went into Centrelink and told them A is no longer attending 3 times a week (on average only once a week) so I think the mobility allowance is being paid to me when it shouldn't be - please cancel as I don't want a bill coming in to repay it all.

ALL OK as far as I could see I was doing the right thing by informing them ???

So, what do they want?

They want the work experience place to fill in a form to prove what I'm saying is true so they can cancel the payment ????????? QUE???????

They need proof of what is going on...

if they took the money away without proof then there would be complaints...

I think you should be appreciative that they are doing the job correctly...

Re: CRAZY ??? Centrelink

I don't understand why you think it is crazy.

Imagine if they took the word of anyone who walked in off the street and told them..such and such is happening...and they stopped payments bcause of it.

Having a work experience place confirm details is nothing unusual and is to be expected.

Re: CRAZY ??? Centrelink

It's part of the process esp if it involves education and training or is part of a course. I'm not sure what your circumstances are or if your son is fulfilling the work exp as part of a course but if so and he is still enrolled in the course you may still be eligible. It all depends on the circumstances so that is why they are asking for clarification.

Yes, you could be a nosey CS neighbour for all Centrelink know 😮  and if they cut your payment off, they could expect to log into CS (from work)  and see a 3 page thread about how slack they are.

Re: CRAZY ??? Centrelink

oh.. I would also think that because your son has reduced his hours attending then there is a great chance of a reduced payment if he is getting extra money due to the participation.

Or he could be in breach of his agreement and might have a negative outcome and have his payments stopped....

be prepared for anything when it comes to centerlink.
