Okay, somehow I've managed to hijack not one, but two threads yappin' about our new camels.
So rather than continue stomping all over everyone else's threads, thought it may be easier to just put the piccys up here.
Introducing Gera and Alice:
Gera is at the front, Alice at the back. Fingers crossed everyone, that Alice is pregnant and in about nine months we will have either a Camelia (thanks Tas) or a Humprey (thanks Icy)!

They are lovely, Monsters, I hope you will be posting pics of a little one!!:)
Do people spin camel down?
Sure do, mixed with a1 mulberry silk it is a beautiful yarn but oh so expensive.
Camel down sells from about $250 per kg (thats with no guard hairs but not best quality).
Spinners usually only get about 50 grams for blending with other fibres.
I have a camel down, angora (rabbit) and silk scarf I spun and knitted as a lace scarf many years ago and it is still one of the most expensive items I have ever made for myself.
