Okay, somehow I've managed to hijack not one, but two threads yappin' about our new camels.
So rather than continue stomping all over everyone else's threads, thought it may be easier to just put the piccys up here.
Introducing Gera and Alice:
Gera is at the front, Alice at the back. Fingers crossed everyone, that Alice is pregnant and in about nine months we will have either a Camelia (thanks Tas) or a Humprey (thanks Icy)!

Gorgeous pair of camels!
You are a lucky girl having a such a diverse range of animals.
Ms. Mioux, I can't believe how lucky I am. We're not anywhere close to being rich (bluddy useless lotto fairies X-() and I didn't think we'd be able to do anything like this until retirement.
It has been a life-long dream to be able to be surrounded by animals and although it's damn hard work, I am grateful every single day for this place. We were just in the right place, at the right time.

I sang Alice "her" song today... you know:
"Alice the camel has one hump," etc.
I sang the whole verse. Twice.
She stared at me long and hard, and walked away. Looks like my public has spoken :_|

Perhaps you need to treat her like a princess? (and get an ipod or something small she can't see singing), so she thinks it is your lovely voice!

I could be a silly question, but I have to ask. Why?
Just is there a particular reason or have you just always wanted a camel?

Nice Camels.
What about their spitting habits? I had a friend that got spat on by a Camel at a zoo, she wasn't impressed.

Cosmos, a couple of reasons; one is for weed control, camels are supposed to be good for clearing weeds such as Lantana and Boxthorn, etc. Also beneficial to run camels with beef cattle, they have a flora/bacteria in their gut which, when shared with cattle (through eating in the same paddock) assists the cattle to convert food much more efficiently.
I am an animal nut, I would have all sorts of animals if it was legal/could afford it. Not the ones that would be unhappy in captivity such as big cats, large apes, etc, but I like the slightly unusual and different. Although I had a lot of exposure to camels when I lived in the Middle East for a few years, coming originally from NZ camels are still pretty exotic to me. In time I'd like a couple of Ostriches, but they appear to be quite hard to come by.
Amethyst a camel will usually only spit if provoked/under stress. Hubby got spat at the other day, but it was his own stoopid fault for accidentally cornering Gera in the paddock.
Gera and Alice have been nothing but well behaved with me - I am hand-feeding them every morning and evening so that they grow to trust me. I am also much more cautious than hubby, who can be a bit cocky around large animals (mostly bravado). I keep reminding him that, if they wanted to, they could kill or seriously injure him with just one kick and to respect their space. He's learning slowly - especially after he got spat on :^O

Absolutely not! If that camel cannot appreciate my **cough, cough ** dulcet tones then I will simply save my harmonies for those who do appreciate it. Um, the trees, and rocks and things.
