Can't Take The Convict Out Of Them!

Ros Reine's scathing article about Jeremy Clarksons bad behaviour last week made me chuckle:

"Whether or not Top Grub host, sorry Top Gear host, Jeremy Clarkson decides to grace these shores with his presence again, let's make it very clear. We don't want him.

Clarkson, the son of a pair of former tea cosy salespeople, has been acting like a superstar since he arrived in Sydney."

'But back to Thursday night's drama, when Clarkson insulted Sydney Harbour by calling it a "river".'

He called Sydney Harbour a river? :OX-(

"If our glittering emerald sea is a river, then what's the Thames a stormwater drain?"

Yeah! X-(:^O

Oh dear, silly old Jeremy never has been known for being terribly PC has he? I watched Top Gear a cpl times and enjoyed it,  but I've never been into motoring much so I switched after a few episodes.

Re: Can't Take The Convict Out Of Them!

In an early Top Gear program-Clarkson was asked to open a swimming pool

in his home town of Chipping Norton.

All the big wigs and locals gathered.

Clarkson appeared in a Rolls Royce and then--------------------

-----------------------drove it into the swimming pool.   lol.

Hi Icy

Ros clearly doesn't get the fact that in many places he is a super star

He also caused a stink by hanging up mid-interview with none other than Kyle Sandilands, who quickly labelled him "gutless".

Oh diddums poor Kylie, I wouldn't have even given the second rate shock jock a hello, I wonder what gives Kylie the impression he is worthy of getting an interview

Re: Can't Take The Convict Out Of Them!

'Superstar' usually refers to a celebrity who has great popular appeal and is widely known. Being well known in the motoring fraternity does not make him well known. I had to look at the article for a photo to see if I knew him. I did recognise him as one of the males in the frequently aired promos for their show but that is the only reason. I would probably walk past him in the street without a second glance.

A shame that when he packed his bags for this trip he forgot to include his manners.

Oh so one should not react to rude people and just accept poor treatment? :^O

Rather strange concept

Re: Can't Take The Convict Out Of Them!

Jeremy is known for his merciless wit, he lambastes everyone, especially the Germans and not least of all his co-hosts James and Hammond

Ros Reines was probably a bit over the top with her comments, but in this instance I think Jeremy was way out of line.

Surely he didn't think he was going to come to Australia, where he has a huge following, and think he wasn't going to get press attention? Or did he just get cranky because he was spotted with his girlfriend?

Fancy calling Sydney Harbour a river, that's just unforgivable. :OX-(

I would have hung up on Kyle Sandilands as well, I mean, who's heard of Kyle Sandilands in the Circles that Jeremy Clarkson moves in? And anyway, those two big overblown egos would have soon exploded in each others faces.

I think that's what turned me off the show, they destroyed so many fine vehicles with their infantile mid-life crisis tests and races.

I loved Top Gear when it started... then they got popular and it all went to their heads and the show changed...

Now I can't stand it...
