The Lismore car boot market, known locally as "The Booty", is a treasure trove of the old, the rare and the downright oddball.
On a summer's morning in 2013, the booty didn't disappoint for local artist Stefanie Bassett. While flicking through a plastic sleeve of old sketches she paused on a striking little painting that caught her eye. A small signature in the far right corner read "Olley, 1947"
I think that's what makes op-shopping and Garage sales so interesting. You never know what you can find.
Look where the finder, Stephanie Basset lives:
How nice and tidy. Kind of makes you yearn for the simple life.

Not quite in the same league, but I dropped my daughter at friends house across the road from a car boot sale this morning. I had a quick look and picked up a box of vintage car parts. The guy only wanted ten dollars, but I told him it was too cheap and gave him $20 instead. He was stoked that someone had actually given him more than he was asking.
I spent an hour listing them when I got home and the total listings came to $490.00. I just need to sell them now, but it was a nice little pick up. As you say, you never know what you will find at the car boot & garage sales.

Just a quick update, Seven of the parts sold overnight to a U.K buyer for $280.00. Sorry, but I just cant go along with all gloom and doom from people who say ebay is dead.
