any reasonable person would, however, has Pell said he covered it up?
I see that now.He is representing the Church though isn't he ?

So, because you represent the Church you take on the transgressions of others?
Even parents/spouses are not required to do that, if they don't know.
I hold some parents and grandparents responsible too, as they knew and did nothing.

sexual abuse of a child would be a sin, one would presume. lying is a sin according to the church. why then are men who supposedly dedicate their lives to God committing these sins. if they believed in the teachings of the church, commit these sins and do not atone for them then they will go to hell (according to Catholic teachings). one would wonder then that if they supposedly love God enough to be a priest/cardinal then they shouldn't want to go to hell. this to me means that either they don't actually love God at all or that they don't actually believe in him. either way it is a whole lot of hypocrisy. i won't say what i think of Pell. i got smacked on here once before for doing so. but i do think he is accountable. it also worries me how much influence he has and could have on Australia in the future.

I doubt he will make it past this enquiry if he is in fact, found guilty of anything/something.
I do have an issue with priests who lie/abuse/neglect........ but I am also a realist and human nature is what it is.The abusers chose their profession so as to hide what they did/do. Not so easy any more..

I have managed to watch a little bit of it and read some transcripts of comments by others. One thing I noticed... and I understand why the parents are so bitter...... the family referred to can never get justice, money won't change anything for them and I doubt anything would ever be enough.
However, demonising Pell won't help either.
He has not admitting to covering anything up.
Those who did and those who perpetrated the offences must be made accountable.
