Hi folks.:-x
sorry I've been MIA for so long. Miss a couple of days and there's just too much to scroll back on.
I went up to Perth yesterday to have high tea in one of the posh hotels with some of my sisters - lots of gossip lots of giggles, yummy food and champagne on tap! what more could a girl ask for?
Braff are you doing one of those reiver cruises? We did one last year Amsterdam - Budapest and it was just heaven.
Soul, without buying into any individual discussions, can I just say we all have our own philosophy to guide us and help us through difficult times and obviously we are not all going to agree. the purpose of this thread is verymuch to be supportive of each other and I think we need to take people's commnents to mean 'this is the belief that sustains me, you might find it helpful,' rather than 'this is what you should believe and how you should respond to circumstances.'

Hi amazing women!
I see two of our OK'ers living the high life i.e high tea at a posh hotel (very nice!) and the other having cocktails on the Danube! Mrs Braff as I was reading your post I imagined you and Mr Braff doing the tango on the boat a'la Mr & Mrs Smith (Brad and Angelina) :^O
Blacksheepy yes the law of attraction is an ancient idea, way before Buddhism.
I have prooved it to myself over and over again. Remember the sage green sofa in 21 days? That was measurable physical proof for me.
So I'm going to manifest 3 things in 7 days (or thereabouts).
1. A Cherry Ripe (not one I buy myself)
2. A back rub
3. A $20 note unexpectedly
lets see what happens :^O
I think the "trick" to manifesting or attracting is not to have an emotional desparate attachment to it because that actually blocks it from manifesting. It's Let Go and Let God.
My teacher is teaching me about Letting Go and trusting The Universe. To surrender and have faith that The Universe/Buddha Nature is working in the unseen.
As Blacksheepy, Mrs Braff and She-Ele said .. these are the beliefs that sustain me.

I forgot to mention ..
a couple of weeks ago, for fun, I made an intention to manifest a gold star. Nothing happened for a couple of days. I saw no "gold star" and forgot about it. But on the 3rd day I was talking to a customer on the phone and during our conversation he laughed and said "you're a star". Not something I've been called before or since. It was only later when I got home that I realised I had actually received my star.
The Universe delivers in it's own way. :^O

Thank you lovely posters for your messages of support! โฅ Mioux you were spot on in reading my post! And Braff thanks for taking the time to focus on my issues when you are on a magical trip! Im loving the updates!!
Ive taken some time for serious thought now that the information has settled and my decision to keep myself & kids out of the biologicals life is the right one for us.... not that he's tried, but at least I wont be shell shocked "if" he does come calling, Ive already thought long & hard.
Im happy to know there are no feelings of hate, I learnt the hard way (with my ex MIL & exSIL) that "hate" just eats you up and ends up hurting a lot of innocent people!
Im in a really good place where life is actually better than Id ever dreamed it could have turned out and Im so grateful to 'the Universe'... or a "god"... fate??? WHichever it is, Im doing OK! โฅ
Blacksheep.... glad you could relate and I too have found 'lightbulb' moments from unexpected sources over the years! It IS hard to imagine others go through the same situations as yourself, I hope you too have the peace that I have! โฅ
YCDI- Hope you are feeling better physically (tooth) and mentally (being yelled at) and ready to get back on the horse this week!

How lovely to have you back She Ele. I was going to comment last night that I hadn't seen you for a while but I deleted that bit before I posted because I didn't want to be guilty of not mentioning others that have not been in for a while.
High tea is gorgeous. I hope you stuck your pinky up in the air appropriately. ๐
My bestie took me to high tea for a birthday several years ago at the Park Hyatt in Sydney.
We also had it on the QM2. Very grand with the silver teapot, and the white uniforms and dainty sandwiches etc.
No She Ele, not river cruising. Just sleuthing our way around. On a mission ๐ Too secret to tell anyone, B-)
Kylie, I managed to see Damien :-x
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z9JrNBxdBY
I wish he sang one of his originals though. ๐ Some people think he only does covers, when his own songs are just gorgeous.
LAst night was absolutely MAGICAL. Budapest all lit up was like being in Fairyland. So beautiful.
No tangos here MsCat unless you put My Sharona on and then MrBraff breaks out the 'JohnTravolta' in him. :^O
Have a lovely week everyone. Higs and hugs to you all and a special one for Kylie, who is at peace with the decisions she has made if she is confronted with choices.
Hiya MIA *waves*

Kylie you sounds like you are in a good place and know what is best for your children's and your well being. โฅ
Mrs Braff I'm so happy you got to see Damiens performance. I can't visit Youtube until I get more RAM on my computer.
My teacher sent me this email today:
What is true joy in life? This is a difficult question--and one that has occupied a great many thinkers and philosophers. Joy can quickly give way to suffering. Joy is short and suffering long. Also what passes for joy in society is superficial. It cannot compare with the joy deriving from the Mystic Law. The key then lies in cultivating a state of mind where we can declare without reservation that life itself is a joy. This is the purpose of our Buddhist practice.

Cat...is this meant that joy will proceed hurt? Does it mean that happiness is short lived compared to suffering?
on โ28-05-2012 03:30 PM
Jacks what my teacher means is that the expression or feeling of joy in our society is more often than not a feeling of Rapture. Rapture is the feeling we get when life is going well for us because of some external event or person. For example .. when we first fall in love, when we get a promotion, when we achieve a goal or a dream, when we buy that dress/handbag etc.
Rapture is a lovely delicious feeling and it's great! But the problem with this kind of joy is that it is short lived. Soon enough we start having problems in our relationship (the honeymoon period wears off), the new dress becomes the old dress, the new car starts to get wear and tear, we lose our job ... then we start to feel sad, fearful, angry .. all those words are used for the feeling of suffering.
True joy, however, is a feeling that can never be swayed so easily by external situations. True joy comes from understanding how The Universe works. That we are responsible for our own happiness. That we can change our bad karma to good fortune. That true happiness comes from developing our wisdom and compassion.

What is true joy in life?
This is a difficult question--and one that has occupied a great many thinkers and philosophers.
Joy can quickly give way to suffering. This means the feeling of rapture never lasts long and when we lose that feeling and turn instead to disappointment, fear, anger etc .. it feels like we are suffering.
Joy is short and suffering long. Because when we are suffering time seems to slow down and we think we'll feel like this forever or we feel like we are waiting, and the waiting can feel awful, for life to change for the better.
Also what passes for joy in society is superficial. Rapture.
It cannot compare with the joy deriving from the Mystic Law. Understanding the true nature of The Universe. The Mystic Law encompasses laws such as karma, attraction, connectedness to all things, impermanence etc.
The key then lies in cultivating a state of mind where we can declare without reservation that life itself is a joy. This is the purpose of our Buddhist practice. Life is meant to be joyful. The purpose of life is to be happy and inspire others to be happy.
Hope that explains it a bit Jacks, it's how I understand it to be.

Cat you are very good with your words!
I've understood true joy to be a joy that has no conditions attached to it. Whatever is happening in the physical world is not responsible for MY joy and what I feel inside. I do that, I am in control of that. I mean really, how can I get true joy out of a new dress? It might be lovely and make me look hot as (!!:^O) but it is still just a dress, just a physical thing. ๐
I'm going to manifest something too (you've inspired me!) .... My mum is having surgery this Friday. She lives about 1.5 hours drive away from me and I don't really know how many times I will be making the trip up there during this time. So I'm going to manifest having enough petrol in the car to get me there and back as many times as I need too. I know Mum wont want me 'making a fuss' and wont want me to be doing all that driving etc etc. (You know being 'a mum'!) ๐ But I will be there when she wakes up and for as long as she needs me there. Hmmm manifesting chocolate sounds like a great idea too!!! ๐
Oh and the green couch in 21 days is one of my fav manifestation stories too! That was sooo meant to be! ๐
I'm spreadin the warm fuzzies to all my ladies! (And if there is a man among us - well I guess he can have some too) :^O;-)
