I recently came across an old videotape from 2003, thought I'd see what was on it - a bunch of old Entertainment Tonight shows I used to tape to watch when I came home from work, It was interesting to see the type of stars we celebrated as a culture back then and what has happened to their careers since.
For example, one episode was almost totally devoted to Julia Roberts and the $25 million she was being paid for Mona Lisa Smile. The interest in her was extraordinary. I had almost forgotten about her. Another episode focused on Paris Hilton and her new blockbuster TV show, A Simple Life. TMZ don't even report on her now and yet they'll interview Kim Kardashian's gardener. At the other end of the spectrum, there was a segment on Robert Downey Jnr's battle with drugs and prison and yet today he has been voted the most powerful and bankable star in Hollywood.
It got me to thinking where today's stars will be in 10 years time. Who do you think will be forgotten, succumb to drugs, insanity, go bankrupt or die? Are their outcasts today you think will make a comeback and others who will gain more credibility?
In the 1970's, when "The Sonny and Cher show" was all the rage, I'm sure there were few people, myself included, who thought Cher would win an Oscar for Best Actress and Sonny would become a mayor. I guess in the entertainment industry, anything is possible.

I'm wondering who of today's top singers will still be celebrities in 10 years time -
Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Avicii, James Blunt, beyonce , Bruno Mars .....
They probaly all could be as they're very young now.
Avicii, James Blunt and Bruno Mars aren't celebrities now let alone in 10 years. Miley Cyrus has turned to gimmicks - once a star does that she's on her way out and Rihanna doesn't have a strong enough visual style (unless black eyes count) to stay clearly in people's minds. Also her film debut was hardly Whitney Houstonesque. That leaves Beyonce - as much as I hate to admit it, I think she will last a long time. She is my least favourite in your list which isn't difficult as she's my least favourite entertainer out there however I do believe she has a talent and always did and her appearance in Dream Girls was admirable, it's just I don't like her songs, her voice or her appearance. But I acknowledge she has an appeal to millions of people. I just don't understand why.

Oh, they are genuine goo, I was removed from another thread for saying this exact same thing. I wonder if we are talking about the same one, your description seems spot on but could pertain to many of the "clique" on here.
Keep on posting, your'e funny & entertaining & that's what the board needs. It's been sterilized. wiped clean until it now resembles the wasteland the BP'ers achieved.
I wonder why they bother to bp? all it does is make more evident the fiasco the forum has turned into. Posters are treated like infants by the mods & the bp'ers are left dancing on the grave of CS.
I say welcome goo, & I'm sure many others feel the same.

No of course not - unless being top of the UK and US and Australian charts is taken into accoount - and their
bank balances, and the hits on YouTube.
the same with the others I mentioned.
It's good to have knowledge before posting, but then knowledge isn't everyone's strong point.

I would say you're very brave speaking out but then when you consider the capabilities of our "adversaries", going into battle here is less threatening than an ant is against your heel ๐

Oh don't be too hard on yourself. Unfortunately for copy-and-pasters and people who rely on Wikipedia for their education (I mention no names...;) ) they are incapable of developing their own personal instincts, possibly from lack of IQ and/or one's inability to track trends and learn from past experiences. You see, many celebrities can enter a downward slide into has-beeness and still appear successful - perhaps in the beginning only those with an average or better IQ can sense this. For instance, I knew Julia Roberts was a has-been in 2002. Her recent picture The Mexican did lousy business compared to her past record and she looked terrible in Oceans Twelve. Added to this she was pregnant and this sometimes dramatically changes a woman's appearance even after they've lost weight - she was one of those. For a woman whose stock in trade was her youthful appeal I knew the road was over for her.
You need to acquire a global view of things and not simply rely on what other people write before commenting in further.

Well, Justin Beeber has had it already.
Tickets to his 29th November concert are offered at half price and less. Some on ebay don't even have a bid.
What do they call a falling star?
