They snuck that one through pretty quietly. First thing we knew about it was when he had to get a prescription filled today.

It sounds like it has been taken of the list of subsidised drugs. Can you have a word with his doctor to see if there is any alternative?

It was covered on the TV and Radio news a few weeks ago.
There may be a generic equivalent available that is still subsidised under the PBS.
And yes, it stinks, making those who can least afford it pay the most.

yes it sure has been in the news
Consumers will pay up to 50 per cent less for many common medicines under changes to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to be announced by Health Minister Sussan Ley on Wednesday.
The changes are also expected to save the budget about $3 billion over five years by encouraging consumers to choose cheaper, identical generic versions of off-patent drugs and less expensive similar drugs.
