KFC applies for liquor licence for a new outlet in Parramatta

Fast food retailer KFC has confirmed it is trying to open a store in western Sydney that will sell alcohol alongside its usual fried chicken products.

Professor Daube said advertising had a strong effect on children and they would associate the KFC brand with alcohol if the liquor licence was granted.

"There is very substantial evidence that kids are influenced by alcohol advertising and that's why there is so much pressure to curb even more the kind of alcohol to which kids are exposed," he said.

"What we are seeing every day at the moment is the KFC Big Bash [cricket tournament] being promoted on television and for kids to be associating that with alcohol takes us into the realms of the absolutely irresponsible."

Will the Cricket Board still be able to accept sponsorship from KFC if they sell alcohol?

They serve beer at Mcdonald's in Germany and I believe in France you can get wine with your meal.

LOL no.

I can't drink while I'm eating.

Wine or beer before is ok but once the meal is served, that's it.

I like a cup of tea after the meal.

Then KFC will only be able to employ staff over 18 years old who hold a responsible serving of alcohol certificate.   Which would mean more wages for the staff, and would mean the chichen meals would be more expensive.

In Italy too they serve booze at some MacDonalds.   Generally speaking (well where I went anyway) there were thousands of options for buying alcohol and not once did I see this being abused, i.e. no stonkered agressive ferals.  Maybe it's a cultural thing or I just went to the right places.
