Christian Radio Host Hopes Ebola Will 'Solve America's Problems Of Atheism And Homosexuality'

NEW YORK -- There’s nothing like the harrowing death of 900 fellow human beings to bring out the caring side of Christian radio.

Whereas most Americans are saddened by the tragic deaths in Africa and many are worried about the spread of the virus to Western shores, one caring member of the flock is rolling out a red carpet for the "plague", hoping it will "solve America’s problems" with atheism and homosexuality.

The follower in question is Rick Wiles, a chap who believes in the End Of Days, a bronze-age yard that predicts the earth will be visited be a great tribulation before the Second coming of Christ (not the Schwarzenegger film).

Speaking on his radio show on Tuesday, Wiles said, "Now this Ebola epidemic can become a global pandemic and that’s another name for plague. It may be the great attitude adjustment that I believe is coming… Ebola could solve America’s problems with atheism, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, pornography and abortion."

"If Ebola becomes a global plague, you better make sure the blood of Jesus is upon you, you better make sure you have been marked by the angels so that you are protected by God. If not, you may be a candidate to meet the Grim Reaper."

Pope Francis on Tuesday said "mere tolerance" toward migrants and asylum seekers is not enough and he called for a "globalisation of charity" towards those fleeing warzones and poverty.

"It is necessary to respond to the globalisation of migration with the globalisation of charity and cooperation, in such a way as to make the conditions of migrants more humane," the pontiff said in a message to mark the World Day of Migrants and Refugees next January.

"Large numbers of people are leaving their homelands, with a suitcase full of fears and desires, to undertake a hopeful and dangerous trip in search of more humane living conditions," he said in the text of an address he will give January 18.

"Often, however, such migration gives rise to suspicion and hostility, even in ecclesiastical communities, prior to any knowledge of the migrants' lives or their stories of persecution and destitution," he said.

so true, but my point was that there is a history of blood thirsty conversion attempts from most religions

But my point was really that it's the religion that gets blamed, when really it's the groups of people (majority male as a rule, if that sounds sexist, bad luck in a way, it is majority males that lead these conversion missions) and they are not true to their respective faiths. They have hijacked the true religion and they wield it like a sword to gain power. And they can do it because they have cherry picked quotes from the religious doctrine that suit thier agenda so everyone believes that they are "religious fanatics" but imo the religion in essence has very little to do with their actions. They have no restraint, respect or any of those things they should have according to the doctrine. They actually behave more like animals...

and as we're currently seeing, many people blame all muslims for the ISIS extremists

What is the Best Bible?

If you intend to do serious Bible study, a literal translation is what you want. This will enable you to catch more of the detailed implications of the text, but at the price of readability. Thanks for that link. I read it and it sums up by saying 2 things which I think are opposing views?

They do not place much emphasis on the MAJOR differences -
- ie the extra 7 books in the Catholic version (or the 7 missing books in the other version however you want to look at it) - except that
the RSV-Catholic Edition contains those 7 books.. 1 and 2 Maccabees, Sirach, Wisdom, Baruch, Tobit, and Judith, and parts of two others, Daniel and Esther.

So, I am still confused? Ufo - do you use the 'extra books' version or the standard version?

couldn't say - as I said I use whatever is available - actually on-line I use Bible Gateway which has heaps of translations.
