Cloth nappies or disposables? We crunched the numbers so you don't have to

i was under the asumption disposing of human waste in the general rubish was against the law.
if thats so there is tones of soiled nappies being dumped into waste that shouldnt be.
i bet if i pooed in a bucket all the time then tipped it into my big green bin ready for collection by council and they got 'wind' of it.
wow, and what a stink that would be!
id be in big trouble!
and yet families all over are doing exactly that by putting old nappies in the bin!

Cloth nappies here as Dom says, waste went in the toilet.
I only had the one, but she had four, and she also used cloth.
and you did the right thing, re usable cloth nappies and did the messy business of cleaning the .... well making em clean to use again.
but now days you would be in the monority
the disposable nappy is the popular choice and they, including the poo, go into landfill by the tons every day.
i saw those 'chaser' guys doing a reduce waste thing years ago, they created a pile of used disposables for just 1 kid for a year, it was humongous!
how many kids are there creating the same pile every year?
David - most Mum's distribute the waste - then dispose of the disposable - they are not Neanderthal.
Just because it is disposable - doesn't mean it is not ' emptied ' before disposal.
Geez.
Um...yeah it does.
While back in the day, we soaked the nappies, then put them in the wash while disposing of the waste down the toilet.
These days, Mums don't worry about the finer details, they just put the disposable nappies in the rubbish bin. I don't think they worry about "emptying the contents" into the toilet.
Young Mums are much too busy for dat!

Yuck.
Any suggestions as to what they could be recycled into?
well thats the 24,000 dollar question isnt it
what are they made of?
could they be composted and turned into usefull something?
or are they made of something that will be in the enviroment for ever?
even if it is burried?
i dont know, i just see billions of the things winding up at the tip.

btw, it was only a few months ago we were told our rubbish would be 'viewed' during emptying in order to check we are 'doing the right thing'
who wants to inspect the bins of a house with say 3 toddlers who put the poopy nappys in the bin?
not this little duck

Say - you spill - the whole dish of bolognese onto the table.
Do you scoop it up - with a teatowel /whatever - put the whole into the washer - hoping.

Thing is...the washer drains it into the general waste water. Not into the rubbish disposal.
