I don’t seem to be able to drill down into some major websites anymore. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?
For example, I can log into my bank’s website and see all my account balances but then I can’t drill down to see the transactions. I can get onto Gotalk’s website to see my home page but then can’t drill down to select my service to see the balances. I’ve also noticed that my Yahoo calendar does not display properly. It only shows the times of the appointments, not the details.
I have a Toshiba laptop that’s 3 yrs old. It runs on the Win7 operating system with Internet Explorer ver 9 as my browser. As far as I can see, apart from this problem, it’s in perfect condition and all programs run normally. I use McAfee protection software which regularly scans the disks and tells me that my computer is safe.
I have used another laptop computer on the same broadband account and it works fine. I’ve also checked my internet usage and I’m well within my limits (only used 50% with 2/3 of the usage month gone). I don’t think it’s anything to do with “popup blockers” either. If I turn them off it doesn’t make any diff.

Maybe you're shaped from all the downloading depending on the size of your internet package

How old is your computer?
we have a laptop and a pc in this house.. laptop being 3 years old and the pc being about 5 yrs old???
both of ours are running fine...
we do defrags, virus scans, cleanups at least once a month....
you need something that will go through your system and clean it up...
Tuenup utilities is good and I believe it has a free trial.. I highly recommend it.
also Bullguard antivirus also goes through and checks a lot of things like latests updates... you can also get a free trial of that and just uninstall it when it expires.

Hi again
Laptop is a Toshiba and 3 yrs old but well looked after BUt I never use any of those tools you suggested so maybe it's time to do that
is that Tuenup or Tuneup?
thanks for yr help
at least the major probs have been resolved now and so glad I'm rid of IE10 and back to at least something that works and we're all familiar with!

I agree with Patchoo re bearshare, you need to get rid of that.
Also you need to do cleanups on a regular basis as already said. If you don't any computer will eventually slow up.
Google CCleaner, it's free and easy to use. If you just install it and use the default settings it should do a fair bit of a cleanup for you.
I would not use IE for any money for reasons others have also mentioned. I use Google Chrome, better and faster.
Firefox and Chrome are very easy to use, like anything you just have to get used to them.

Oh and getting a new comp is pointless. Just learn how to do regular cleanups and get rid of stuff that is not used and things that appear on your computer like bearshare.

auslogics is good for optomizing your comp too.

Hi again

TuneUp...

Sometimes I type faster than I spell check..

I concur with cat... I've used Tune Up utilities and it's excellent, CC cleaner is good and it's free.. You would be surprised how much junk accumulates on your PC every time you uninstall a program..
Getting back to Bear share, you really do need to get rid of that as there could be all sorts of nasties in your PC that are causing your PC to slow down and eventually it could end up corrupting your hard drive..
If you look at the links in my first post you will find advice and steps on how to remove it, you really do need to remove all aspects of this to get rid of it; changing the browser won't make any difference as it's a PC problem rather than a browser problem..
Also don't install any toolbars; they're all superfluous and all they do is clog up your computer with Spyware

Thanks all
Just one last thing: when I try to locate "bearshare" in my program list, I'm told it doesn't exist. I just cant find it anywhere.
But in any event now that I'm back to IE9 I don't have that prob of the homepage automatically defaulting to bearshare. With IE9 my homepage comes up correctly every time
hoe you all had a great weekend
can you believe that on my way down the stairs to bring in the washing this afternoon, I missed the last step and tripped over a wooden doorstopper that was lurking there. Luckily I didn't fall but in preventing the fall and staying upright, I twisted my foot something terrible. Now I can hardly walk, its agony everytime I put this foot on the ground! All I can do ius hobble to the bathroom and back, about 2 or 3 metres, can't even make it to the kitchen and had to have my wife bring my dins in bed. Any suggestions? I dont think anything is broken, the pain is on the side of the foot and it's v badly bruised.

You will not be able to do a search for the files, they are often designed to stay hidden... you will need to follow the instructions in this link that Meep has given.
You can print out the instructions and do them one step at a time.
You will be fine but if you like follow this one

Also download this program and run it every now and then..
