We are now the richest people on the planet. Officially loaded. According to the Credit Suisse 2013 Global Wealth Report, released this week, our median wealth - $233,504 - is higher than any other country. (Granted, for those pedants who actually prefer to measure average wealth, Switzerland beats us - but we still come second! - with $425, 603.)

@***super_nova*** wrote:I guess you think that Credit Suisse 2013 Global Wealth Report has just made it up? The fact is that Australians do not realise how good they had it for the past 6 years. We are spoiled brats who expect & demand more and more; well, I am sure soon we will be told to shut up by TA, as he makes sure his wealthy mates make more and more, and ordinary people get less and less.
But I am not ordinary, are you ?
I did say (if you read my post) that labor did do some good but you insist blasting your message how Tony Abbott and his government will never do anything right and Labor was the saviour of our country, how do you know this and how wrong you are ? Give the LNP 6 years and see where we are, they deserve the same courtesy don't you think ?

it doesn't appear to be praising anyone

Did I hear Joe Hockey correctly this morning on radio?
That our debt has dramatically increased over the past 2 months and the govt is going to have to borrow more money to fulfil their promises???

median wealth
you do understand what that means don't you???
It does in no way indicate that it is the average income....
And then even if you do calculate the average income that does not mean the income that the majority of people have.....
then go and include the average cost of a house in Australia and compare that to the average price of a house elsewhere....

Now some reality SN (from the same article)!
"This figure has been almost entirely driven by the fact that property prices have risen here, while they have slumped in the US and Europe."
The Economist
Australian house prices remain the most overvalued in the world, according to the latest quarterly ranking of global house prices .
Couriermail
HOUSE prices in Australia remain among the most unaffordable in the developed world.
SO SN we are asset "rich" because we have very expensive "bricks and mortar" as a result of a few years of ALP policies, and 8 reductions in interest rates to a record low of 2.5% as the RBA attempts to balance those policies.
A far more meaningful comparison than quoting assets, is disposable household income, meaning what you actually have in available currency to spend, rather than a pile of bricks. Research and let us know what you find on a global basis SN.
Finally looking ahead!!
Roy Morgan
Australian businesses clearly expect the change in government to improve the fortunes of the economy over the coming year, and consequently believe conditions are now more favourable to invest in growing their business.
Market Watch Oct 2103
Australian business confidence rose to its highest level in three-and-a-half years following the election of a conservative government, widely seen as more capable of managing a slowing economy as a long mining boom fades
BRW: "The post-election surge in business confidence has continued into October, with the latest monthly business survey from NAB showing confidence hits its highest point since March 2010."

Looking ahead is showing that business is only cautiously optimistic.

PS: "Looking ahead is showing that business is only cautiously optimistic."
After a few years of ALP policies to overcome/change, one can hardly blame them, meanwhile some can congratulate themselves on having the most expensive bricks in the world.
