A Sunshine Coast mother is horrified at the lack of checks and balances which allowed a man convicted of raping her nine-year-old son to send the boy a love letter from inside prison.

It wasn't a love letter..................................
I can't imagine why the mother took it to the media..................
and it appears it is being investigated.
Poor little kid ๐

He states that he will always love the boy. I don't blame the mum for taking to the media because this should never have been allowed to happen. How slack of the prison for this to have happened. Disgraceful.

The letter was essentially a sob story to my son about how tough he was doing inside.

Obviously not tough enough if he can get a letter out to his victim.
totally agree.
However, I guess prisons are big places and mostly I expect they are more concerned about the mail coming in than going out, lucky the mum is vigilant and screens her son's mail.
To call it a love letter (makes me feel sick) is not right. That is not love, to destroy a child's innocence and his childhood, possibly his life.

did he think this poor child would somehow get him out? sweet zod, what a sicko!

he is probably lonely is his little protected unit, poor thing. Given that, surely he can find a friend in there?

a LARGE one, preferably as much larger to him as he was to that little boy.

Oh, he'll find a 'friend' allright. System can't protect them 24/7
