Cooking Corn on the Cob

Lots of cheap corn on the cob around lately.

Found this really, really great way to cook it without having

to deal with that horrible silk.

And it's microwaved - not boiled, so no washing up

Tried it last night   -  brilliant.   Quick and easy.    Stays hot too

I didn't realise that I had to specify that it doesn't go in a microwave oven. I don't own a microwave oven

Re: Cooking Corn on the Cob

I love corn, it is my favourite food.

I only recently starting taking the handle off and cleaning it from that end, much easier.  We don't use a microwave but if you

twist the other end firm before you pull - it removes most of the silk in one go. It no longer goes everywhere.

Re: Cooking Corn on the Cob

If you have a charcoal BBQ then place the cob on the charcoal, gives the corn a nice rustic look and taste

Re: Cooking Corn on the Cob

Microwaving food changes the chemical composition of the water molecules which promotes illhealth.

I think it adds to the number of free radicals roaming the body.

Free radicals are cancer causing molecules/atoms

Stick to the stove, oven or BBQ.

Bit late with the health warning Annie.  But antioxidants are the answer it seems

Antioxidants are molecules which can safely interact with free radicals and terminate the chain reaction before vital molecules are damaged

Although there are several enzyme systems within the body that scavenge free radicals, the principle micronutrient (vitamin) antioxidants are vitamin E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C.

Been microwaving for 35 years.   Not dead   -  yet

Re: Cooking Corn on the Cob

Have a cup of green tea after your meal.

Plenty antioxidants in green tea.

I love corn on the cob, but never microwaved it.

Will try it your way, Stawka and post the result.

I bought 3 ears of corn for $1 at Arnolds in Wodonga during the week and tried this last night.

We had Rissoles, spuds and veg plus one cob each and they were perfect, good.gif

I ate the other cob tonight,(cold, straight out of the fridge, perfect also),blush-1.gif

Re: Cooking Corn on the Cob

I didn't get any more this week   I meant to, but forgot

I haven't cooked it for years, cos I hated the boiling for ages, and the silk

getting stuck in your teeth.

Love it this way and will keep cooking it this way - too easy
