What was the "start"?  The 1st patient with strange pneumonia?  The 1st 100 patients spread over large city and in different hospitals?  Nobody knew what is going on, they dealt with new disease and they could not know what was happening or what will happen.  It could have just as easily petered out.

the pandemic rapidly grew from 10-22 January, reported cases peaked and plateaued between 23 January and 27 January which was over 75,000 people and nearly 3000 deaths.

That took from before the 10th of January to build up to that

Their "first" case was December 30th according to them so they had plenty of time to work out

what the problem was as the death toll rose steadily.

The graph show 44 people dead between the 1st and the 10th which is the first block they used.

As of 20February2020, a cumulative total of 75,465COVID-19 cases were reported in China

Yet China had it under control according to WHO so need to put big restrictions in place.

China had no right to lockdown and refuse citizens of other countries to go home.

That really worked out well for them as a minimum they choose to not warn others and made

certain that WHO didn't either.

China told us end of December/early January and gave samples to every lab around the world, who asked.  The Australian lab had it 1st week in January and developped the diagnostic kits within short time.  You cannot declare pandemic when it is not a pandemic.  You do not seem to understand the word pandemic = epidemic that is spreading across the whole world.  Back in January with 44 dead, China did not even have epidemic, and WHO repeatedly warned that this virus has the potential to become pandemic, and nobody took it seriously.  Unfortunately,  Alan Jones,  Sky News, Ray Hadley, Andrew Bolt etc all sniggered when China took drastic actions, while the WHO rightly commended them for doing it, and even now some are saying the world is over reacting.

If you did not know back in January that this is potentially dangerous then you do not listen/watch/read the right kind of news, but it really does not matter, it is not your job to know.  If governments did not know, then they are in dereliction of their responsibilities.  Now they try to blame China for their inaction.

By the way, while the 1st  cases in Wuhan were in December, there where some undiagnosed cases in other parts of China some months earlier; the connections were made only  months later, but reports were made back in November and shared.  At that time there was no reason to believe it spread human to human, that is something that only started to be suspected in December.

Re: Coronavirus update

Frightening what COVI D19 does to your body, and while 80% of cases are only mild, the 20% even if they survive, might have some very serious problems; nobody knows if the mild cases might also have permanent damage.

Nobody took it serious because WHO didn't take it serious and the word potential is always used

by them just in case it gets worse then they think it's like a safeguard that nobody believes anymore..

They put their first main warnings out after the 20th of February when it was way to late and their

earlier responses where it's fine, not a problem it's easy to control because China has..

That's from their mission to China to finally look at the virus and that's what they based their

findings on.

They stated there was no need to put in travel restrictions before then.

This was their response for the public on the 20th of February.

For the public1.Recognize that COVID-19 is a new and concerning disease, but that outbreaks can managed with the right response and that the vast majority of infected people will recover.

So where are their danger warnings considering China had 75.000 cases then and over 2300

deaths.

No warnings or big concerns by them at all just carry on and do what citizens from every country

were told to do based on that information by WHO first posted on the 20th of FEBRUARY..

2.Begin now to adopt and rigorously practice the most important preventive measures for COVID-19 by frequent hand washing and always covering your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.

3.Continually update yourself on COVID-19and its signs and symptoms (i.e. fever and dry cough), because the strategies and response activities will constantly improve as new information on this disease is accumulating every day.

4.Be prepared to actively support a response to COVID-19 in a variety of ways, including the adoption of more stringent โ€˜social distancingโ€™ practices and helping the high-risk elderly population.

Unfortunately,  Alan Jones,  Sky News, Ray Hadley, Andrew Bolt etc all sniggered when China took drastic actions, while the WHO rightly commended them for doing it, and even now some are saying the world is over reacting.

Shock jock idiots get everything wrong and I can't see how they are still on air let alone that

some people actually believe them.

The problem is that only China could've contolled it the way they did and it's unrealistic to think

that any other country could do the same

If you did not know back in January that this is potentially dangerous then you do not listen/watch/read the right kind of news, but it really does not matter, it is not your job to know.  If governments did not know, then they are in dereliction of their responsibilities.  Now they try to blame China for their inaction.

It didn't matter what anyone said in January as most believed it was controlled inside China

because that's what China said and so they allowed five million people to leave China to infect

the world including Chinese nationals.

That's where the blaming China stems from.

The Governments went on what WHO told them as they are supposed to be the experts and

they also partially went on what China told them.

They were getting the wrong information and believed what WHO told them on the 20th of

February that it can be easily controlled.
