Why wouldn’t Australia put forward Tony Abbott as a nomination to head the World Health Organisation?

— Alan Jones.

Good call, Alan. Just what a science based organization needs. A science denying flat earther.

i dont think trump talks to anyone before making sweeping anouncements

he walks to the podium and whatever thought pops into his head he just blurts out

then his 'people' have to run around to make it happen, theres no plan.

Pres Trump's  background is as a business owner of large enterprises - He will have an instinct for confidentiality which will be in conflict with the obligation for public disclosure , as such He will tend to be non-specific in disclosing public expected information , but back in the "White House board room" you can assured that objectives and plans as well thought out with the assistance of appropriate expert advisors , as is sound business practice.

Over 45,000 recorded deaths in the U.S.A.
Watch Florida climb the charts as the Republican led state has eased restrictions. Thousands of people congregating on beaches etc, many of them students on spring break, who'll take the virus back to their home states.

811 new cases yesterday and that will explode if similar numbers are still present.

Say each infected person gives it to 5 other people it could go up to 4000 people infected who then infect

others wily nilly so multiplied by 5 that could jump to over 20,000 quickly and rise from there.

This all stems from their stupid belief of the population believing that the Government is out to get them.
Meanwhile in another far right stronghold, the numbers are soaring in Brazil. About 2 weeks ago there were about 6000 reported cases. Now it's over 43,000. The relatively few tests conducted there would suggest that the number of infections there are grossly understated.

Brazil was going to do nothing to stop the spread as they didn't believe it was worth it in shutting the economy

down as they wouldn't get enough cases as they thought it easy to control.

So they are now behind in treating it but due to their strict Government could catch up quickly but it's now a lot

of catch up to try and slow it provided they leave their politics out of it.

They have sacked their head of research and others and their health minister quit as the blame game goes

on where stories told to one change when spoken to another.

One novel approach the police could be looking at that they use is that they use a drone with a loudspeaker to

warn people of keeping their distance for social distancing.

That would be perfect on beaches and in public parks.

Roge that picture is disgusting, even worse at this time with the virus, take it down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

suppose is to much reality - the virus was supposed to have jumped species from a bat - so how do I remove a picture ?

I can't say i love the picture but on the other hand, I was in China 2 years back and took several photos of stuff that was being sold as food, things that we probably would not buy. It was being sold in a shopping centre that was perfectly clean, just like any of our smaller shopping malls really.

The fact is that people from different cultures find different types of food perfectly acceptable. Is killing a bat any different really to killing a sheep or a cow? Is the photo of the bat any worse than photos of whole fish being served or whole pigs on spits? This is the reality of meat eating, that something had to die.

The only thing with bats or some other creatures is we are talking of possible virus transmissions because of the way some of the markets overseas are run.

Talking of the virus, is anyone watching the covid 19 tracker? I am and I have started taking daily screenshots. I am noticing some rubbish stats coming out and it is shock to me that no one has called them out on it. Maybe someone has.

Nonsense stat 1. China's total & active cases today and yesterday were reported to be the same (88423 and 2006). Exactly the same. Highly unlikely. No other nation's is totally static.

And USA. Numbers through the roof but get this. Click on some states such as Calif & NY and not one recovered case recorded. I call BS on that. Those states have had the virus hanging around at least as long and in some cases longer than we have here in Vic and most of our cases have recovered. I would have assumed the US just was not recording recovered cases except in some states, they are showing.

So I think we have huge differences in how cases are being recorded from place to place and I am not convinced USA has as many active cases as it is showing as having. (Currently 703,877 cases out of a total of 824069). or perhaps it is just that website.

I agree with you - what caught my attention was the the bat seemed uncooked so any virus from the gut that remained in the cavity could still be active - the garnish obviously was being ladelled with soup as part of the ritual , hence covid potentially being washed into the soup

For some reason is becoming trendy not to quote " recovered cases" , even in Australia , note in the local news reports - maybe in some countries the low recovery is to danming as a reflection of health integrity or lack of it , or might lead to further awkward investigations like air pollution

As for China , definately a matter of them defining facts differently than the west assuming  - they are cagey about disclosing definitive facts , as being aware that progress by un-natural attrition is a 2 edged sword and an enraged herd can quickly turn on the shepards

If really interested one in the west must evaluate what is alluded to not the actual public facts only

One hint is : how many long duration inactive mobile phones are there now ?

They do not have much in the way of social welfare backups - so little capacity to financially support mandated isolation

I was wondering how the virus spread so quickly across the US continent - then i read today the President has ordered a stop to immigration.....

Cross reference:  what happens when just one super spreader migrates or returns to a stressed population refer to current country of Ecuador experience

Cross reference:  Note the ongoing China experience regarding the number of positive cases returning from overseas

At least the penny has dropped now

Once covid get holds of the RIO slums ...... maybe will be declared a new urban scenic located national park

The northern hemisphere is entering springtime and emerging out of flu season - will be of interest how this effects new case rates and also the question of will the pest return in force their next winter ?

we saw how passengers from one ship spread the virus across australia

imagine the thousands arriving in the USA every day for the past 3 months

and NOW he thinks he will close the borders from outsiders?

its not just outsiders, its everyone!

Social distancing is an inpossibity in the favelas of places like Sao Paulo and Rio. With a population of over 12 million and their narrow streets it's highly likely many will die there.
Sao Paulo has a population 4 times that of Sydney.
