Its not just the Victorian Andrews Labor government that seems to be following communist China. The whole of Australia is slowly going down the gurgler under the creeping socialist influence. Too many people relying on the state to do everything for them and self sufficiency, ambition, initiative and enterprise slowly draining from our society.
Thats why our living standards and wages are stagnating and going backwards. Too many people taking, not enough people giving. Too many people consuming, not enough people producing.
Offended - LOL.
You seem to be in contact with those - taking - more than those giving.

Based on what ? You don't know me and are not in any position to judge.
One thing I have done though is to try to insulate myself as much as possible from creeping socialism affecting me and my family. I cant change the world. All I can do is work within the social framework to provide the best outcome for those close to me. Consequently while I am impacted by the CORONA virus it is not ruling my life or my families future.

$800 a fortnight is not just for food, medical bills, Power, Phone, clothes, petrol,
Winter heating bills are higher
When you take all this out does not leave a lot for food, some have to be on a specail diet.

it would appear they learned nothing from the ruby princess event
its not like a plane from melbourne to sydney was a stealth flight no one saw comming!
better just hope there were no carriers on board
Three escaped the subsequent roundup - what is the chances of one being a spreader ?
And the VIC 10,000 "i decline being tested" precious ones that should no longer qualify for medicare rebates....although now maybe a stint in a stockade in the Little Desert to contemplate values would be life changing for the better.

I think many get the Bali tourist experience ( and maybe Hong Kong/UK fusion) mixed up with China ( after all both are Asian ) and local Chinese activists and fan people play on that "anything goes free from staid Edwardian prissiness"

Seem to recall single pension is somewhat higher than $800 fn tax free and Job Seeker somewhat less ( like 60% under the poverty line) - not bad if in line for a new job - but long term ..... is grinding , although enough to met personal vices and so does keeps the strugglers off the streets and relatively well behaved with Govt housing maintaining a very good quality of accommodation that is dispersed enough not to become ghettoised
Small price to pay for special diets - canned food cuisine , late evening raids at the supermarket for half price cooked chook etc etc
Makes Australia great - support for the poor and adaptability of those thereof

Most doctors in Melbourne bulk bill everybody, medications are only few dollars for concession card holders. The flats are not very big, so would not take much to heat. I live in spacious and cold house, I run my gas heater whole day, and heat my bedroom and sewing room with Dimplex heaters for about $150 a fortnight. I am not saying that people on old age pension are wealthy, but they should not be running out of food 2 days before next pension day. Of-course, people on the pre-COVID dole would be another story, BUT that is not the way now with all benefits doubling.
Anyway, now we are all in lockdown and nobody is going to be dropping food parcels on my doorsteps. Not that I am complaining; I understand that without taking harsh measures things will only get worse. But I am greatly inconvenienced by it. I have heaps of things to do and I need some paint and other materials, which I did not manage to get today.
