The day of the driverless car is coming (one day, in the future); the day of the driverless, non-fossil-fuelled car is coming.
The day is coming (sometime in the future) when people will be prohibited from actually taking manual control of their cars.
On that day we can cheer and wave farewell to rev-head, hoon drivers who do burnouts in our driveways or dangerously who cut us off or tailgate us while revving their engines.
Sounds like a cool sort of future to me.
Cars are for transport or for haulage.
I've even seen 4wd RV-type vehicles on the road sporting low profile tyres, transporting their so very uncool drivers to bogan-land no-wheres-ville. 
a vw pick-up equipped with a 4cyl supercharger and turbo, tickles my fancy [twin charger] quality, practical, excellent on fuel, and got the power in reserve
If were talkin trucks now, I would rather a Ranger. 302 v8 conversion, 5speed manual, trick flow aluminum heads, lifted at least 4 inches from the suspention and another 3 on the body... here is one in the works,
