NOISY children have been banned from a Sydney shopping centre in a move that one parenting expert says reflects society's growing intolerance.
The Dee Why Grand on Sydney's northern beaches, which claims to cater for young families, has introduced its new policy following complaints about out-of-control children.
The notice from centre management reads: "Stop. Parents please be considerate of other customers using the food court. Screaming children will not be tolerated in the centre."
I wonder how far this will be taken? or is it not going to be enforced and the sign is just an attempt at placating shoppers?

I believe I used the term PARENTS in my posts, as against singling out Mothers. I could have been even mor PC and said CARE-GIVERS, as seen on a sign outside of a local school that I drive by regularly.

Its only the feral ones people are complaining about
Rubbish, it's just an excuse to complain about mothers.
It's only the feral ones is the excuse rolled out when mothers start to jack up about it.

It is only a complaint about parents of unruly children (the minority, no doubt).
Any other parent who take their children to the food court/play area don't even have to take notice of the sign as it doesn't apply to them.
The Mall owns the play area, they can make the rules for its use.

Every week we read whinging and bitching about mothers and half of it comes from other mothers. Why is it so?
Because there are an increasing number of parents out there who have no or little control over their children when they are out in public and they simply don't care that their kids are pests and as far as running in malls, they are a hazard to elderly people and anyone else not steady on their feet, plus the child themselves can get injured if they crash into a trolley.

You will always get those who make blanket statements about children/behaviour/parents without looking at the whole picture.

"FGS get over the running around the tables thing, ladies.
The subject is about uncontrolled child behaviour WHICH INCLUDES running around tables, up and down corridors, out in front of people AND UNCONTROLLED SCREAMING whilst BEING IGNORED by THEIR PARENTS."
Ive never seen that happen at my local Westfield.
And the shopping center in question, is a fancy one in Dee Why which is hardly a "feral" area

Feral does not always equate with badly behaved children. Anyone can have badly behaved chidren. It doesn't say feral in any news article about this does it?
I see children running amok in our local Mall, I hear/see children having screaming tantrums there (which doesn't bother me as much as the running, as that can be unsafe).. there are no feral parents shopping there ever.

I think it's an increasing number of whinging grumpy people more than an increasing number of bad parents.

I don't agree freaki. I have only noticed this more in the last few months. The kids are probably bored and angry with their parents for taking them shopping instead of being allowed to stay home and play on their DSI, ipads so they play up.:-p

yep, i agree 🙂
If the center has a problem then they should remove the play area.
I mean seriously, kids are put in the play area to play, get hyped up from that and are then taken to the food court to eat and may still be a bit hypo.
If they want quiet kids, get rid of the playground.
If you want to eat in peace and quiet, dont go to a food court
