Dan Delivers Another Blow To Victorian Taxpayers

The revelation of Daniel Andrews' $3.3 billion blowout on his "signature" West Gate Tunnel project is just another blow to the "punch-drunk electors and taxpayers" of Victoria, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

"You may remember that when Daniel Andrews was first elected, he tore up contracts signed by the former Napthine Liberal government to build the East West Link," Ms Credlin said.

"It didn't matter that construction was already underway, Andrews killed it off because he had a pre-election deal with the Greens and as a result, taxpayers were forced to pay out a billion dollars in compensation, for contract breach.

"A billion dollars not to build a new, much needed road.

"And in place of the cancelled East-West link, the Andrews government accepted a near-substitute proposal from Transurban, to build the West Gate Tunnel instead.

"It was never the best option, but it's turning out to be just another one of the Andrews government disasters inflicted on long-suffering Victorians.

"Now it's a project that's stalled before it's barely started, with a near $7 billion dollar original cost, now looking like well over $10 billion, and no completion date.

"It's hard to credit, isn't it. Just another blow to the punch-drunk electors and taxpayers of Victoria."

Politicians can implement restrictions and strategies and lockdowns until the cows come home…..  but to make it work, we need 100% community compliance…. And it’s not happening!

Hi springyzone, your posts are always thought out well and interesting to read. Sadly I disagree with some of what you have said. IMO, Andrews is not a good man. Quite the opposite.

I've always had the belief that if someone chooses to be vaccinated then that's their choice and it must be respected. I also believe the same for those who choose not to and stand on their right. I also believe that some vaccines are helpful while some are not.  In regard to the current situation, vaccines may not be the total solution. There are other treatments available, proven efficacy and known to save lives. They are safe and have decades and decades of use. This has been proven by well-respected medical experts. Yet this man (Gosh he reminds me of Tony Blair) is not supporting a life saving addition. I believe he's against it! And in the process he is destroying an economy while pushing a solution and agenda that at best is only partially effective. And who knows for how long?

The truth be told, I find it hard to trust politicians and most have proven by their actions that they serve the mighty dollar. Kevin Rudd with all of his short comings I believe adhered to a lot of the things that Labor Party used to, and is supposed to stand for.  Andrews IMO does not!

I don't know what the statistics would be but if the rate of death from stress and despair, suicide etc. due to loss of income, bankruptcy, failure of business runs neck and neck with deaths from this Corona virus then something is seriously wrong!

Wrong! No baiting. Just making note of a situation. Notation and conclusion supported by observation wider than my own.  I am here to discuss and debate, just as springyzone and chameleon, icyfroth  etc. are. I'm not always in agreement with all they say but they participate in discussions such as these correctly.

Now tell me, what do you think of Andrews' non-support of early effective, life-saving oral drug treatment?

Do you think he's a liability when it comes to the economy of Victoria?
