Re: Daniel Morcombe jury retires

What a meant by that is that a few years ago, he had just disappeared. No - one seemed to know anything, which is also horrific, perhaps I shouldn't have used the word relieved.

I agree with you though. How do these people slip through the system and offend over & over again. He should've been locked up long ago IMO

The same with Jill Meagher's killer and many other victims, the mongrels should have been off the streets, if it wasn't for the bleeding heart solicitor's who defend these mongrels and judges who hand down lenient sentences these victims would be still alive today.

I blame the judges Freddie, there was a case here a couple of days ago in Melb where a guy got off on an assault charge & I couldn't help thinking how pathetic the ruling was

True Deb, I don't know how any Solicitor could defend Jill Meagher's murderer, I would be violently and physically ill if I had to defend someone like that.

Agree with you totally Freddy. These people have a repeated history and it's defies logic that it cannot be bought up in a court of law. It only comes up after the fact. Something very wrong there.

Re: Daniel Morcombe jury retires

Why blame the Judges? they can only give sentences that are applicable to the crime. What really needs to happen is a big change to sentencing and increased penalties with proper punishments, more than just taking away their freedom. Rehabilitation also, before they are released, not just a pretence at it.

Work while incarcerated if there is the chance they will be paroled.

Re: Daniel Morcombe jury retires

it was a court ruling here that stunned me the other day Az.

our system is too lenient all round. Even Jill Meagher's murderer faked that he'd been rehabilitated and fooled the parole board who released him

IMO in certain cases life should mean life with no parole

Wonder if they will give him so many years for murder ..so many for the other two charges .?? That could add up !

It could, unless QLD has useless concurrent sentencing like WA does, in such instances you will only serve the length of your longest sentence. Does my head in, it's so ridiculous.

Maybe people miss anothers 'point' because they don't express it properly in the first place.

Lets hope the sentence is a long one. That person will always be a danger in the community imo.

Maybe some people are smarter than others.
