Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

at this time NO ONE knows who set the Boston bombs........ it could well be a home grown US citizen......as Timothy McVeigh was.....blowing up their own people.

My comments were in reply to why the media didn't focus on the Iraq bombing... not to what happened in the US... 

I have not even contemplated who is responsible for those bombing.

And lets not forget the context. She was reporting the events of the last 24 hours. Reporting both the Boston bombings (3 dead) with the same days events in Iraq (over 50 dead). She had already spent a considerable amount of time reporting on Boston.

Sadly we are shocked only when it is white people who die. WE don't even blink when hundreds of people in horrific circumstances elsewhere.

Even more sad (and despicable) is the fact that some moron like Bolt would use this tragedy to score points against a journalist he dislikes. Why aren't you up in arms about this low act windrake?

Trioli is well known for her radical leftist veiws, you only have to go back to what she spouted about the 9/11 atrocities & how she had great sympathy for Osama Bin Laden.

Her failed attemp to become a radio announcer that was so left wing it was cancelled. She slithered back to the ABC think group.

I don't care how you try defend it , she tried to spin the Boston bombings into something not  warranting as much sympathy or coverage as  the Iraq war & other hot spots & uprisings & that's what has people upset.

the source said he made it all up. He drew the pictures colin powell showed the UN.

She said this on the day of a peaceful event in a country where innocent children & adults  were killed & maimed. There was no need for her to even try to spin this into something else.

You defend her if you want & I want to know just what you are getting at here.

Are you saying that the casualties & horrific injuries are not as important as what's happening in war torn countries?? If this is your slant on it then shame on you.

We focus on what relates to us.

We relate to the tragedies in the west more so than the east because we are, for now, of the western society. We're more likely to have friends, family, associates in the US, Europe, UK than in the Middle East.

We can feel sadness and have sympathy for the civilian casualties in the Middle East conflagration, but will be more affected by events closest to us.

No shame in that.
