Why do they do this and what do they hope to achieve
Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon
Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.
There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.
The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.
Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

hmm we have cory bernardi promoting the same interests here. if that proves to be the case, he's a danger to the australian public as he stirs the same hatred.

She said this on the day of a peaceful event in a country where innocent children & adults were killed & maimed.
And who do you think got killed and maimed in Iraq? People who deserved it? Her point was acceptable in the context and under the circumstances.
There was no need for her to even try to spin this into something else.
She wasn't spinning anything. She was reporting on events. It just so happens that one of those events was ANOTHER bombing which claimed MORE lives.
Her comment was a timely reminder to us all that more than one terrorist act occurred yesterday.
Seriously, what is so hard to get?

was a tax day/patriot day/tea party internal-politics style of protest in my view.
I actually agree with you a little bit... I am still going to wait for more info before I make an opinion..
Another radio program I was listening too was talking about extremists.. the right wing extremists are just as bad as left wing...
Left wing seems more violent in the UK, attached to Unions and religion .... Right wing is more violent in the US and they are attached to religious or race groups...
really sad.. would rather argue it out online with you eloi than even contemplate that type of behaviour that we have seen in Boston.

Left wing extremist violence? Seriously? When exactly was the last time that a left winged group was responsible for a terrorist act? In any country, let alone the UK.

the right wing extremists are just as bad as left wing...
And I missed this gem.
NOTHING is as bad as a right winged extremist. At this moment, all of the worlds most horrific acts that I can think of have occurred at the hands of right winged extremists. Aside from the IRA, I can't think of a single act of violence that wasn't right winged.

I'm just loving all the right wing Christian groups fighting abortion decriminalisation in Tassie.
They're the same ones that look down at the single young parents and wish to blow the boat people out of the water before they reach our shores. :^O:^O
They're probably also the ones who blame the girls for sexual assault, even if those girls are 12 and the assault is "punishment" for misbehaving.

With statments like that you sure have chosen an apt ID

The Left wing mantra.
Can I choose a large drink? No it is not good for you
Can I choose an incandescent bulb? No it is not good for the environment
Can I choose low cost coal? No it is not good for the planet
Can I choose to honor God? No that's offensive
Can I choose to eat fast food? No it is unhealthy
Can I choose to own a gun? No, think of the children.
So what can I choose? An abortion

mine too
April also has a number of unhappy anniversaries in the US, Waco, Columbine, and Virginia tech, two of which fall on the Monday Patriots day.
My opinion leans towards that a homegrown zealot has done this

We focus on what relates to us.
We relate to the tragedies in the west more so than the east because we are, for now, of the western society. We're more likely to have friends, family, associates in the US, Europe, UK than in the Middle East.
We can feel sadness and have sympathy for the civilian casualties in the Middle East conflagration, but will be more affected by events closest to us.
No shame in that.
well focus on this
...... another 80 americans will die in the US today from gunshot wounds...... (they are the ones that you commented on with lines like
" We're more likely to have friends, family, associates in the US, Europe, UK than in the Middle East".
and then tomorrow another 80 will die in the US from... gunshot wounds,
MAINLY INNOCENT BYSTANDERS... children, parents aunts and uncles
did you hear anything about those 80 victims on the news?????
I did hear that 3 people died in a bomb blast in Boston and probably will hear that again tomorrow
.....however each day another 80 will die by gunshot.
Imagine if the news media just ran the names of all the people that had died violently in the US,
EVERY DAY at the start of each news bulletin.
.... scrolling display with name, State, cause of death and a picture
What type of impact do you think that would have on the american public?????
every day
Just heard on the Aussie news TODAY
.... top story......
3 people died in Boston from a bomb blast on Monday 😐
