Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

Why is it certain people with a grudge against a Government think their best idea for punishment is to blow up innocent people and blow the limbs off of others?

Apart from being inhuman and horrible , logically you do not teach anyone a lesson?

You killed  and mamed people who have nothing to do with said country or organisation you rightly or wrongly believe to have wronged you.

Do we know this case is a grudge against the government??

After three days of investigations, the Boston Police Department has identified one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects as Ivy League student, Sunil Tripathi.

Tripathi, who is identified by a white cap in the FBI photos released late this week, was a philosophy major at Brown University, not far from Boston. He comes from a well-to-do family; his father is a rich software engineer.

The student went missing last month without a trace. The FBI became involved in the case, even though it was a presumed suicide.

Right before his disappearance, explosives were found near Brown University, however, they were destroyed in a controlled detonation. Police have yet to implicate anyone in the bomb scare.

UPDATE: 6:00 AM EST

Despite reports from the police scanner that confirmed Tripathi was, in fact, the person who they believed to be the second suspect, NBC News reported that the missing Brown University student is not a suspect.

Did you here the police fire, I am surprised he actually got to hospital, looks like he half blow him self up as well.

So many people dead I just cant understand the thinking of it all.

In the pictures one of the terrorists they look like they are smiling after the put the bomb there that is just so sick

This from The Sydney Morning Herald:

NBC has now backed up the AP reports that the bombers are Russian, and has gone further by claiming they are brothers.

Again, this information has not been officially verified.
