Chaos as twin blasts rock Boston Marathon

Two bombs have exploded near the finish of the Boston Marathon, killing two people, injuring scores of others and sending authorities rushing to help wounded spectators.

There was a large explosion and a white flash. It blew us all back onto each other. It was so loud, I still can’t hear out of my right ear. I was crawling on the sidewalk, and my cell phone blew out of my hand. There were some really hurt people.

The explosions occurred as recreational runners were finishing, at just before 3pm local time (5am AEST). Television footage shows two explosions occurring metres from each other near Copely Square as competitors crossed the finish line.

Runners fell to the ground, which flowed with blood. Police arrived with bomb-sniffing dogs and hotels were put on lockdown. Reports say as many as 90 people were wounded, with some having limbs blown off.

POLICE killed one of the Boston marathon bombing suspects in a shootout early Friday and pursued a chaotic street-to-street manhunt for his accomplice, officials said.

The Boston bomb suspects are from a Russian region near Chechnya, and have lived in the United States for at least a year, US media report has said.

Several Boston suburbs were put under effective lockdown and public transport was suspended throughout the region.

In addition, thousands of heavily-armed police continue a house-to-house search in suburban Watertown for an "armed and dangerous... terrorist... who has come here to kill people."

I do wish they would stop naming people until they know for sure? does this mean the missing person is still missing and probably innocent?

The one on the run name is Dzhokhar A Tsarnaev not Russian but in that area.

Chechnya Area

Chechen Islamic militants were responsible for the Beslan school massacre in 2004 where they murdered 334 hostages, including 186 children. It's a predomintly Islamic country.

I hope it's not religiously motivated though.

Who knows?  As I said before, apparently everyone except those actually conducting the investigation.

The only funny thing I saw was two students who have not been watching Tv and came out to go to Uni got hand cuffed and their bags with there lunches in searched, should have seen their faces
