Why ? because you don't want to watch TV, can't afford TV or there is some religious reason you don't have one.

nah, just never hooked one up for many years, when the kids were smaller, we had a rule of no electronics during term time (except for what they needed for school) then one time, we just never hooked it back up and no one has missed it because we're not used to watching it iykwim.

we just got lucky and got some flatscreen TV monitors, but we use them for computer monitors.
