Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Family of asylum seeker Leo Seemanpillai cannot attend his funeral

When Leo Seemanpillai is buried on Wednesday afternoon in Geelong, his mother, father and three brothers will not be there.

His father cannot view his body before it is interred. His brothers will not be able to speak at the service. His mother will have no chance to cook his favourite foods – meat curries, hot roti, semiya and sambar saatham – and leave them by his grave.

Despite weeks of applications and pleas for compassion, none has been granted a temporary visa to travel from India and say goodbye to their son and sibling.

Re: Diary of our stinking Govt.

Children children,  enough of the name calling and roughing up the Sandpit. I think I would prefer  some more  mindless C&P, or outside BIG BIAS  from "citizen journalists" much featured in the strangely named, but self-styled rags, with "independent" in their title.

The world revolves, the Circus has left town, the clowns are noisily milling abot in the paddock (sulking) ,  and if stamping one's left foot helps ease the PPTSD,OK I do understand.

Now something current and  associated with government .  Odiforous ?  not to my  olfactory system:

Asylum seeker detention on Manus Island is constitutional, High Court rules

"The High Court has unanimously upheld the Federal Government's constitutional right to send asylum seekers to Papua New Guinea......The court's also upheld the actual designation of Papua New Guinea as a processing country,...."

A somewhat decisive  judgement when compared with Poor Me's 2011 Malaysia fiasco:

"The decision is a win for the Government after a 2011 High Court decision scuttled a Labor government plan to send asylum seekers to Malaysia."

There are hundreds of settled asylum seekers in Tasmania, and the populace has welcomed them.
