As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Paints, then there's this....do you think abbott is Gollum or Mr Potato Head?
Canada’s Toronto Star pilloried both Canada’s and Australia’s prime ministers in a withering piece headed
‘Stephen Harper and Tony Abbott deserve each other'.
Author Christopher Hume described the pair as 'Gollum and Mr. Potato Head' and a 'matched pair of fossils' who
'... in their short-sighted neglect of global warming ... let cash rule everything around them.'

Greens spokesman for Communications Scott Ludlam
July 11, 2014
Malcolm Turnbull's NBN plan is in tatters after revelations in a Senate hearing today that not a single user has been connected to its Fibre to the Node trial, despite announcing the pilot nine months ago.
The previous Labor Government initiated the NBN, supported by the Greens, designed to provide the vast majority of Australians with Fibre broadband connections to their home or business premises. This path was based on recommendations from an expert panel and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and continues to enjoy the support of the vast majority of the Australian
population.
However, upon taking office, Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull cut the heart out of the NBN plan, directing NBN Co to pursue a so-called "Multi-Technology Mix" of broadband technologies. This path has been condemned by industry analysts due to its reliance on outdated copper networks.
This morning senior NBN Co executives confirmed that so far the company had been unable to connect a single user to trials of the Minister's preferred Fibre to the Node technology in Umina, NSW, and Epping, Victoria.
The delays are another nail in coffin of the Government's ability to use the ‘MTM Mix' option to bring faster broadband to all Australians.
The Greens continue to support an all-fibre broadband model for the NBN. NBN Co's own strategic review shows this can be delivered with only modest financial and time implications. The Greens call upon the Federal Government to abandon Turnbull's Multi-Technology Mess and return the NBN project to the rational and consistent rollout supported by most Australians.

Oh, and I forgot to mention. They hired a little friend of Morrow's. One that was still at the PG&E when the explosions started.
It seems they failed to train their crews adequately to work on the gas lines but hey, those same execs are good enough to destroy the NBN for Turdbull and Murdiocre. At least they got their big bonuses after saving all that money on training. I wonder what sort of training program they would have implemented in relation to the asbestos in Telstra's old pits.
But hang on a sec. This looks like they hired these people who are at least partially responsible for 8 deaths while the Witch Hunt Royal Commission was on about workplace deaths under Rudd. It must be OK to oversee fatal accidents as long as you're not from labor.
The revelation of another problem related to pipeline safety at PG&E was disheartening for the many who lost homes and loved ones in the 2010 pipeline explosion and fire, said San Bruno Mayor Jim Ruane.
“Every time something like this comes to the surface, it brings us back to 9/9/10 where eight people were died, 38 homes were lost and the city was traumatized,” Ruane said.
“Whether it be record-keeping, whether it be oversight, it’s a frustrating situation.”
PG&E faces a fine of up to $2 billion and criminal charges in connection with the deadly pipeline explosion.

Tony Abbott and Shinzo Abe to sign Australia-Japan free trade deal
July 8
Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe are preparing to sign a historic free trade agreement today.
The Economic Partnership agreement, as Japan prefers to call it, was reached in April.
The Government says it will see the cost of Japanese cars and electrical goods fall and provide a boost to the beef industry.
However farmers had been hoping for bigger tariff concessions in a shorter timeframe.
The deal is scheduled to be signed in Canberra this afternoon.
Before the agreement is signed, Mr Abe and Mr Abbott will visit the War Memorial, before the Japanese leader is given a full ceremonial welcome at Parliament House.
Mr Abe will then address MPs and Senators in the House of Representatives.
The Lower House is not sitting this week and MPs have travelled to Canberra especially for Mr Abe's visit.
Labor is demanding the full text of the free trade deal be released.
Mr Abe and his wife touched down in Canberra on Monday night for the start of his three-day visit.
Mr Abe's trip is the first official visit by a Japanese leader since 2002.
In 2007 he visited Australia as prime minister to attend the APEC summit in Sydney.
Before travelling to Australia the Japanese leader visited New Zealand, where he flagged his country's intention to resume whaling in the Southern Ocean.
While in Australia Mr Abe is expected to sign an agreement facilitating cooperation on defence equipment.
He will also visit the Pilbara region in Western Australia..
And as for Telstra (TLS)
Just have to love reality as opposed to C&P huffing and puffing.

Tony Abbott and Shinzo Abe to sign Australia-Japan free trade deal
....Hmmmmmnnnn.....I took a few hours to study exactly what products will be included in this latest FTA with Japan.
The seafood and meat produce items got my main attention -yes, whale is there as is dolphin, beef.....you name it....offal (like tongue etc).........many, many things in the produce arena made exempt or reduced.
All I see is a resulting, horrendous price hike on these same items for Australians at the checkout.
