As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

"Not a single user has been connected to the Fibre to the Node trial, apart from : 69,000 properties"
Would you mind alerting us to where they confirm that 69,000 properties are connected, please?
It sounds to me like they blame Telstra and the power suppliers for their lack of ability to connect a single user so far.

crying with laughter, doesn't matter how many times I see that channel 7 interview where he just nods and nods - laugh every time - smart horse that one - probably smarter than abbott. seems someone may be suffering from kudo envy, never mind, am sure nobody will be doing any stereotyping....hahahahahahahahahhhhhaha

was someone looking for Mr Shorten? odd really, a little research would have helped - but when one can only look in the murdoch rags, one should only expect to find rubbish....

BILL SHORTEN: The reality is in a modern democracy it's give and take. When Labor had a minority government, we got through nearly 600 separate laws. We never lost a vote. So perhaps what we have here is a prime minister unskilled in governing who doesn't know how to compromise or respect diverse views.

Expanding on the link boris posted
Economists reject Abbott crisis claims
Australia is not facing a budget or a public debt crisis right now," AMP Capital chief economist Shane Oliver said. "Our budget deficit and net public debt are low by OECD standards, our bond yields are low and foreign investors are happily buying our bonds."
Chris Caton, from BT Financial, said it was "simply absurd" to suggest Australia had too much government debt.
Saul Eslake of Bank of America Merrill Lynch said the incoming Conservative government in Britain had faced a "budget crisis" and a "debt emergency" in 2010. The projected deficit was 10 per cent of gross domestic product, and net public debt was in excess of 60 per cent of GDP.
To apply similar terms to Australia with a prospective deficit of 2 per cent of GDP and net public debt of 15 per cent of GDP was "to abuse the English language".
2010 Britain in a budget crisis & debt emergency - Projected deficit 10% of GDP, net public debt >60% of GDP
Australia - prospective deficit 2% GDP, net public debt of 15% of GDP

Am - have you seen abbotts latest.....I think he could probably get on the DSP, the bloke has some serious mental health problems.
โYou and we are rescuing our country ... it is only us who can rescue our country right now,โ he said.
โI would much rather be delivering a tough but necessary budget than justifying incompetence and trying to explain away dishonesty.
โIsnโt it refreshing to have a government that says what it means and does what it says?โ
